Job Description

Full job descriptionFirst Achieves Engineering Division have an excellent opportunity for an ARC Welder to join an established and growing company in the Edinburgh region. Our client is an international manufacturer, dedicated to aerospace industries world-wide .Whats on Offer:

  • Straight to permanent
  • £18.50/hr
  • 37hr/week
  • OT multiplier is 1.5X until Sat morning and then 2X from Sat afternoon & all day Sunday
  • A rotating shift pattern consisting of 6am to 2pm, 2pm to 10pm and 10pm to 6am
This role will report directly to the Weld Manager and you will be expected to work with minimal supervision, once youve been trained.Duties will involve the following:
  • Setting up the Sub arc welding machine, this includes aligning and adjusting the
  • machine
  • Using the machine to carry out weld repairs, as specified by blueprints, layouts, welding procedures, and operating charts
  • Selecting the correct voltage and power of the machine
  • Visually examining welds for adherence to specifications
  • Adjusting machine set up according to vary size, location and penetration of bead
  • Welding materials such as Titanium, Stainless, Mild Steel, Inconel, High Carbon content steels.
  • Preheating surfaces, using hand torch or heating furnaces
  • Ability to record work progress on a computer.
  • Burning/Lancing experience
  • Ability to fabricate as required.
Essential skills, experience and knowledge:The successful candidate must:
  • Be a time served Welder with experience of TIG and Stick Welding technics.
  • Have a proven track record of Fabricating works to a high standard.
  • Be able to interpret work instructions, drawings and schematic drawings
  • Be computer literate
  • Be able to work at heights and in enclosed spaces
  • Have knowledge and application of safe working practices
  • Have excellent verbal and written communication skills.
