Job Description

Container Transport Planner (Nights)Full time, permanent Job descriptionWe have an exciting opportunity as a Night Shift Container Transport Planner where you will deal with all aspects of the planning and routing of our vehicles throughout the UK from our new Transport Depot on Seaforth.We believe the successful Container Planner should have the following skills:

  • Proven ability to manage and forward plan within a fast paced, demanding and constantly evolving environment
  • Experience in a Container Transport planning environment essential
  • Support for team members and cross department colleagues at all times
  • Ability to address and resolve day to day transport related issues with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Good numeracy, literacy, and IT skills, including Microsoft skills (Outlook, Excel/ Destin8/Link/Paris)
  • Be able to demonstrate a professional manner
  • Ability to be flexible and meet strict deadlines
  • Must remain focused on prioritisation of day to day emails and tasks
  • Excellent communication internally and with HQ as well as a continued positive attitude to new business challenges
The key tasks for the Container Transport Planner are:
  • Daily planning and routing of vehicles in a compliant and cost efficient manner
  • Interaction with Port systems and Destin8 to book vehicles on/off Ports
  • Regular communication with the drivers
  • Maintain relationship and communication with Central Intermodal function in Ipswich
  • Plan trucks and trailers to be available for service/inspection as advised by the Fleet Department
