Job Description

MILK Education are currently recruiting for a Level 2 SEND Teaching Assistant to join Specialist Secondary School in the area of Huyton. We are looking for Teaching Assistants who have an excellent teaching manner and ability to support students with a rangeof Special Educational Needs and Disabilities including Autism, MLD/ SLD, PMLD, SEMH, EBD and other complex needs.Experience working as a teaching assistant in this capacity is desirable however experience as a support worker/ care worker will equally be considered. We are looking for teaching assistants who are adaptable, dedicated, passionate about working with childrenand happy to work on a day to day basis with potential outlook to long term.We also offer a range of opportunities across the Liverpool on a day to day and long term basis so if you are a teaching assistant and are actively looking work across Secondary Education, feel free to get in touch to discuss further.The teaching assistant job role is as follows:

  • Supporting pupils with EHCPs to access a broad and balanced curriculum.
  • Establish good working relationships with pupils
  • Deal with the personal care and comfort of pupils as required in relation to welfare, health, hygiene, toileting, dressing, feeding and mobility.
  • In liaison with the teacher, utilise strategies to support pupils in achieving learning goals.
  • Assist with the display of childrens work.
  • Promote good pupil behaviour, dealing promptly with conflict and incidents and encouraging pupils to take responsibility for their own behaviour in line with established school policy.
In order to be considered for the teaching assistant role we require you meet the following criteria;
  • Have eligibility to work in the UK or be a UK resident.
  • Have school-based or teaching assistant experience working in a UK Secondary School setting.
  • Two suitable references covering the last 2 years.
  • Hold a current DBS that is registered with the update service or be willing to apply for a new one.
  • Hold a Level 2 qualification in Supporting Learning and Development or equivalent
