If youre already imagining what you would do, wed like to talk.You know sustainability. Perhaps youve built experience in a CSR or ESG role. Perhaps your sustainability know-how comes from your role as a buyer, from sourcing or as a supply chain manager. Our client, a leading omni-channel retailer, needs that sortof hands-on experience from their Sustainability Lead. But they need something else too...Our client is still in the early stages of their sustainability journey. Theyve made good progress is some areas but theres lots more to do across their 5 brands. And the goal is set: theyre aiming to be net zero by 2040.Youll be their guide. Their trailblazer. Someone who knows the right path forward, sets the direction and takes a grip of the journey.Of course youll live and breathe sustainability. But more than that, youll inspire others to follow. Youll be the driving force our client needs in a role where no two days will ever be the same. And your actions will add up to one big difference.As Sustainability Lead, your day-to-day responsibilities will include the following:

• Owning the development and delivery of the Sustainability Action Plan, working with teams across the organisation to drive initiatives across all business areas.
• Delivering and reviewing existing Group strategy, updating plans and developing strategies for the future.
• Engaging and co-ordinating with colleagues and stakeholders on the testing and delivery of the Group sustainability continuity plans.
• Reporting on Group activities and progress and leading communications on activities across the Group.
• Actively promoting sustainability awareness and collaboration across the Group and its agents.
• Promoting the Group in the field of sustainable good practice.
• Providing responses on behalf of the Group to consultations and external policy reviews.
• Developing partnerships and relationships with relevant organisations (BCI, Higg, BRC etc).
• Working with consultants and partners, such as local authorities and recycling organisations, to develop energy and waste reduction programmes.
• Seeking fundraising opportunities for sustainability projects and applying for funds from grant and other providers.
• Attending membership forums

Some travel will be required.About youYoull need:

• An evident passion for sustainability
• A qualification at degree level or equivalent and work experience in a directly relevant or allied discipline
• A sound understanding of technical matters relating to environmental management and the opportunities for improvement
• Natural project management skills
• Excellence in building and influencing cross-functional relationships
• The drive and ability to challenge the status quo
• To be hands-on, operating well in a in a small team
• Stay calm under pressure while wearing many hats (often all at once!)
