Job Description

We have an immediate opportunity for a Specialist Substance Misuse Nurse for one of our key clients in the Liverpool Area. The successful candidate wil need to be experienced in working with children and young people. Temporary role, working 30 hours per week, paying £12.00 -£15.00 per hour dependant on experience.About The Role:

  • This role will be supporting and assisting children and young people, who are being supported by the Substance Miseuse Service.
  • Providing a range of health and welbeing and harm reducation interventions to service users.
  • Assessing care needed by individuals and evaluation on a case by case basis.
  • Undertaking dry blood spot testing to those at risk of infection and conducting pre and post test dicussions.
  • Making referrals of those diagnosed with a blood bourne virus. Sampling and labelling and collection of results.
  • Encouraging and providing vaccination service to those at risk ad ensure follow up and completion of vaccination programme
  • Leading on community detoxification programmes across the service
  • Carry out physical and psychological observatrions for service users
  • Being conversant with the legal requirements concerning prescibiing, control and secuity of administration of drugs
  • Supervising and administering of medication when necessary
  • Compliance and updating of clinical records
  • Maintaining standards and adhering to infection control policies
  • Some clients within this service, may you require to work in a prison setting, so adhering to policies and procedures relating to safety and security is required at all times
    • Essential Skills & Experience
  • UK registered Nurse with a minimum of 12 months expereince within Substance Misuse
  • Qualified to perform immunisations and vaccinations
  • Mentorship Course / ENB 998 or equivalent or willingness to undertake
  • If working in a prison setting: Relevant health care experience in a forensic or secure setting
  • Experience in delivering structed psychosocial intervention
  • Understand of NMC code of conduct
  • Enhanced DBS check
  • Flexible to work across more than one site in Liverpool
