Job Description

Specification Sales Manager - Flooring & InteriorsJob Title: Technical Sales Consultant - Flooring & InteriorsIndustry Sector: Architects, Interior Designers, Specifiers, End Users, Healthcare, Education, Social Housing, Housing Associations, Flooring Contractors and Flooring DistributorsAreas to be covered: Merseyside, Cheshire, North Wales & Isle of ManRemuneration: £32,000-£35,000 + up to £4,500 CommissionBenefits: Fully Expensed Car & Full BenefitsThe role of the Specification Sales Manager Flooring Solutions will involve:

  • Field sales position, selling our clients manufactured range of floor coverings including: safety flooring, resilient flooring (smooth), heterogeneous flooring (smooth) and LVT (luxury vinyl tile)
  • 80-85% of your time winning specifications with architects & interior designers, but also other specifiers such as capital project teams within healthcare, education and social housing/ housing associations
  • Remainder of your time managing the relationships with the substantial amount of flooring contractors and flooring distributors on the area (topping up shade cards within distribution trade counters, visiting complaints etc.)
  • Inheriting an area with a circa £2.5m turnover, currently performing very well against budget
  • Majority of your time will be winning projects within existing relationships, there are a vast amount of customers on the area
  • Perhaps only 15-20% of your time will be focused on new business/ new customer relationships
  • Projects can vary in size from a small refurbishment of only £2,000 up to new build hospital which could be as much as £1m
    • The ideal applicant will be a Specification Sales Manager Flooring Solutions with:
  • A proven track record of specification field sales with architects and interior designers
  • Ideally flooring products, but interior building products will be considered
  • May also consider flooring field sales experience without specification experience
  • Willing to listen and learn
  • Consultative and mouldable in approach
  • Ability to handle projects from inception right through to completion
  • Fabric, wall coverings, flooring, partitioning, ceilings and other aesthetically pleasing interior products of interest
  • Understanding of design, flair and creativity
  • IT literate
  • Specification sales driven not contractor/ distributor led
