Job Description

Our client is at the forefront of innovative cancer care with their UK network of cancer centres. They provide the most suitable, state-of-the-art cancer treatment and an exceptional level of care to every patient. The centres deliver high-qualitydiagnostic imaging and the latest in advanced cancer treatments including radiotherapy, chemotherapy, immunotherapy and, in the future, proton beam therapy across all centres.Job PurposeThis is a permanent bank role open to full time and part time applicants.

  • The purpose of this role is to provide a professional and competent and efficient Ultrasound service to patients throughout the Cancer Centre, in a safe clinical environment.
  • Provide a caring, confidential diagnostic service to all patients, ensuring their dignity and privacy are not compromised.
  • The post-holder will work as a practitioner in the delivery of all ultrasound imaging, reporting and management of the patient within the department protocols
  • To utilise specialist knowledge in the ultrasound service.
Main duties and responsibilities
  • To professionally and legally take responsibility to ensure a high standard of clinical care and patient welfare for all patients whilst in the Department and under your management, supporting more junior staff to do likewise.
  • Undertake a range of Ultrasound examinations for patients, including general and gynaecology.
  • To interpret, analyse and report clinical and non-clinical facts to form an accurate and justified procedure in a wide range of complex conditions.
  • To recommend the best course of imaging intervention and procedure and provide optimum quality images for accurate diagnosis.
  • To practice unsupervised and report a wide range of ultrasound examinations as an independent practitioner.
  • To use analytical and judgment skills to interpret highly complex images whose acquisition is operator dependent, accurately differentiating between normal and pathological findings.
  • To formulate a comprehensive diagnostic report on a wide range of clinical conditions. To ensure that the report is communicated to appropriate clinician in accordance with company protocols.
  • Provide advice on future patient management (advise on further imaging & referral) in consultation with the Consultant Radiologist team.
  • Providing clinical information to the patient whilst interpreting, negotiating, and adapting the procedure to that patient, as applicable.
Place of WorkYour normal place of work will be Liverpool however you may/will be required to travel in the course of your duties to attend meetings and other appointments. Travel and reasonable expenses will be paid in line with the Companys Expenses Policy.Essential RequirementsQualifications and Registration
  • Current and up to date state registration through a regulatory body (HCPC; NMC or GMC , SCoR voluntary register or RCT)
  • Post-graduate qualification in Medical Ultrasound or equivalent.
  • BSc in Diagnostic Radiography or equivalent.
Knowledge
  • An up to date knowledge of current and emerging ultrasound techniques and relevant topics / professional issues.
  • Able to demonstrate the ability to carry out and report on a full range of ultrasound examinations in Obstetrics, Gynaecology and General abdominal.
