Job Description

Here at QVC UK our Supply Chain function is looking for a Supply Chain Expeditor to ensure International Purchase Orders are brought into the Distribution Centre on time ensuring costs are accrued against the purchase order and that returns are managed inthe most cost effective way. This role can be based at either our Knowsley or Chiswick Park site.As a Supply Chain Expeditor you will be responsible for -

  • Import Management
  • To liaise with freight forwarders to oversee the contact of the Vendor to establish a critical timeline for all purchase orders, confirming point of origin, ensuring timely dispatch of shipments using the most cost effective mode of transport.
  • To use freight forwarders systems to manage the approval of shipments.
  • To work to resolve issues with Merchandising/Vendors/Forwarders teams to ensure timely scheduling of deliveries to the DC.
  • To monitor and communicate operational KPI to internal/external customers to ensure POs, freight & duty burden, scheduling into the DC, and 3rd party requirements are met.
  • To provide Shipping advice to the Accounts team to assist with LC queries.
  • In case of shipment shortages/damages to ensure insurance procedures are followed.
  • To monitor the international pre-load process, liaising with Inbound to raise pre-load forms where required
  • To check freight invoices against agreed tariffs & process according to business requirements and post onto SAP system.
  • To ensure the updating of the freight calculator with current freight and customs tariffs.
  • To monitor receipt of and pro-actively request Supplier invoices to ensure received in a timely manner, raising queries and ensuring freight and duty are entered prior to sale
  • To compare freight & duty estimates generated by the freight calculator against the Suppliers invoice and action as necessary.
  • To liaise with Accounts Payable for all invoice queries
  • To run and monitor daily reports from internal systems to determine when burden is required and to capture any missed freight to take remedial action were necessary.
  • To prepare quotations for Merchandising.
  • To participate in a range of initiatives designed to improve the productivity and effectiveness of the department.
The successful candidate will possess good communication & interpersonal skills and will be a team player who is able to liaise with others & build relationships. Good planning & organisational skills are key, with the ability to work to deadlines, multi-taskand work under pressure.You will need to have administrative skills, maintaining a high level of accuracy, be self-motivated, accountable and a problem solver.Whilst all system training will be given an excellent working knowledge of Intermediate EXCEL is essential.The following experience is also required:
  • strong background of shipping experience inclusive of understanding of shipping terms
  • freight forwarding
  • customs understanding
