As part of this, the ONR are seeking to appoint a Senior BI Developer / Data Engineer to lead on Data Warehouse development andCloud adoption.The ONR is the UKs independent nuclear regulator, with the legal authority to regulate nuclear safety, security and conventional health and safety at 36 licensed nuclear sites in Great Britain (GB). This includes the existing fleet of operating reactors,fuel cycle facilities, waste management and decommissioning sites, as well as licensed defence sites, together with the regulation of the design and construction of new nuclear facilities.ONR also regulates the transport of nuclear and radioactive materials by road, rail and inland waterways, and as of January 2021 operates the UKs State System of Accountancy for and Control of Nuclear Materials (SSAC) and a domestic safeguards regime.Job Purpose

• Role holder will provide essential Business Intelligence development support for the wider Business Intelligence (BI) function. This is an exciting role in a newly formed team part of the IT department and is essential to ensure that we can meet the needsof the business going forward. BI function is made up of BI development, BI Change, BI Delivery, and an Admin & Support team. This role will lead the BI Development
• Role holder will take the lead on development of backend BI platforms using SQL and Azure technologies and develop Datawarehouse, and relevant data models to support the robust BI development and delivery. The role is mixture of lead and hands-on responsibilities

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead on design, development & support expertise using SQL / Azure SQL and ETL Tools to design Datawarehouse and data models which will feed into Power BI and other reporting tools
• Support Head of BI by providing technical leadership and guidance, creating a data culture and implementing BI best practices to apply of a range of techniques in the development, delivery and on-going management of BI analytics services and solutions thateither offers actionable insights or solve complex business issues though analysis, advanced visualisation, data warehousing, and business intelligence, etc
• Be Agile - participate in all agile ceremonies, have responsibility for large blocks of work, for staff in varied disciplines and with a wide span of leadership, breaking down user stories into tasks
• Provide advice and suggesting courses of action, provide coaching, mentoring and support to your staff, other BI/IT colleagues and peers
• Lead the sharing of knowledge, documentation and good practice with the wider BI, IT and across the ONR; documenting all process guides, technical changes, user documentation to a high standard
• Communicate and collaborate across the ONR representing BI function to develop relationships to maximise the benefits of BI Strategy, developing the right data culture and to develop new smarter ways of working
• Role is expected to Line manage 1-2 staff, ensuring they fulfil their job requirements and are encouraged to develop their skills when opportunities arise

Key Skills required:

• Demonstrable experience in a similar role involving SQL, TSQL, Stored procedure, queries/views and database design skills to design a data warehouse and data models
• Experience of ETL tools (SSIS, Azure data factory or another similar tool)
• Experience to engage and communicate with technical and non-technical stakeholders to develop BI solutions that meets their needs and maximise the use of data
• Demonstrable experience of leading and managing others to the benefit of the individuals and the business

Desirable Skills and Experience:

• Power BI - Data preparation and visualisation
• Azure setup and Azure SQL Development, maintenance, and monitoring. Azure data lake, azure data bricks
• Experience of Cloud based ETL/ELT technologies
• Experience of Agile development

ProfileKey Skills required:

• Experience of ETL tools (SSIS, Azure data factory or another similar tool)

• Strong quality service provision focus, with proven ability to change and improve existing processes
• Demonstrable experience of leading and managing others to the benefit of the individuals and the business

Desirable Skills and Experience:

• Power BI - Data preparation and visualisation
• Azure setup and Azure SQL Development, maintenance, and monitoring. Azure data lake, azure data bricks, ect
• Experience of Cloud based ETL/ELT technologies.

• High level of competence working with Office 365 applications
