Job Description

Description of the role:We are looking to appoint an experienced, qualified Registered Manager to lead a Registered Residential Children’s Home in the Merseyside area. The service provides residential accommodation for four children with learning needs including autism and sensory processing difficulties.We are particularly keen on finding somebody who shares our passion for providing a truly child-focused service, and one who can identify, recruit, induct, and inspire a staff team to do the same. The Residential Manager will ensure that high levels of emotional and physical care, appropriate activities, comfortable accommodation and the service of keyworkers are planned, provided and applied in accordance with the home’s procedures and strategies.The candidate must be able to evidence effective communication and leadership skills, and possess a good knowledge of the relevant legislative framework, including OFSTED regulations (to be evidenced in interview).The salary range quoted is negotiable for any candidate equipped with the right mix of experience and skills, along with a commitment to making a real difference to young peoples lives.Duties and Responsibilities specific to post:These indicators are what the Company can expect to see when the role is being performed to the required standard. It is a tool that also can be used to assess the successful candidate in the role of Residential Manager.Care for young people

  • To be responsible for the management, co-ordination and development of a range of quality services for young people referred and/or accommodated within the home.
  • To promote the practice of working in partnership with young people, their families, other staff within, and other agencies, in order to meet the needs of young people.
  • To take a lead role in the gate keeping and allocation of a range of services provided to meet the identified needs of young people.
  • Management and Leadership
  • To provide effective leadership by implementing organisational strategies, in order to enable objectives of VITA Care to be achieved.
  • To promote team development and effective team working.
  • To maximise the effectiveness of staff through motivation, development and the application of VITA Care personnel policies.
  • To take the lead in setting standards and evaluating achievements; to take a proactive role in securing improvements in the quality of services.
  • To ensure that there is a Statement of Purpose in place, which is appropriate to the needs of young people and outlines qualifications, experience and expertise of the staff employed within the home.
  • To set and review targets and objectives for the home’s staff team in order to ensure that work is focused and has clear direction.
  • To ensure that the staff team are enabled to undertake such duties with young people
  • To ensure that effective finance budgets, control, administration and records comply with our expectations and procedures.
  • To promote and implement the companies Equality and Diversity policies and procedures.
  • Monitor and comply with all company and legal statutory requirements
  • Ensure that while role is being carried out, abide by the Health & Safety at work policies, procedures and practices.
  • Understand importance of adhering to Company policy with reference to hazard spotting, first aid reporting and reporting accidents.
  • Have a complete understanding of Company procedure in event of fire and maintain statutory awareness and understanding.
  • Abide by all company and legal statutory standards at all times and bring to attention of senior management any discrepancies or breaches of standards
  • Attend all statutory training as requested and ensure all members of team attend as appropriate
  • To regularly inspect the condition of the structure, fabric, furnishings and fittings of the building to ensure that all necessary equipment, etc. is in good working order and of a reasonable and acceptable standard of repair.
  • Support and action departmental HR and employee relations issues
  • Ensure the recruitment is in line with the policy.
  • Ensure all issues are dealt with in a fair, reasonable and professional manner abiding by Company and legal and regulatory standards
  • Ensure all information given is recorded according to legislative and company policy and procedures
  • To be responsible for ensuring a full flow of information into and out of the team and to develop effective communication strategies and systems which assist staff in the operation of their duties.
  • To be responsible for the effective management and development of a range of quality direct services to young people. To ensure that the policies and procedures of VITA Care are implemented.
  • To ensure that staff understand and implement the companies Child Protection Procedures.
