Job Description

DSV Global Transport are looking for an experienced QHSE & Dangerous Goods Manager to supervise and coordinate work systems to ensure that DSV services meet the highest QHSE standards and that the welfare and working conditions of the company are favourableand safe.The Role

  • To supervise and coordinate work systems to ensure that DSV services meet the highest QHSE standards and that the welfare and working conditions of the company are favourable and safe.
  • To coordinate with Senior Manager QHSE to ensure all policies and procedures , written guidance, tool box talks and management briefs are aligned with the national management system approach.
  • To support the business functions through the provision of QHSE training, advising line management on new or existing legislation, supporting in streamlining processes and assisting with accident / incident management whilst constantly striving to generateand promote a positive H&S culture.
  • To achieve customer satisfaction through ongoing provision of DGSA / QHSE consultancy services to clients to ensure their legal and safety obligations are met in line with HSE and modal regulations.
Responsibilities.
  • Work in an aligned strategy with QHSE UK
  • Support in conjunction with QHSE UK the management and monitoring of standards, processes, communications, training and systems:-
  • Support DSVs Corporate Social Responsibility agenda for the business, liaising with Departmental and Organisational Heads to agree and implement an appropriate divisional approach to CSR along with ISO requirement
  • Support company compliance and provide support to company personnel in relation to modal transport dangerous of goods legislation (ADR/IMDG/IATA/RID/ADN)
  • To provide support and guidance throughout DSV Chemicals operations, to ensure company compliance under Quality, Health, Safety and Environmental Legislation.
  • Responsible to deliver to assigned clients a DGSA consultancy service, ensuring customer satisfaction and revenue delivery to the business.
  • Support QHSE UK with implementation of the annual QHSE management strategy and action plan, including resource, systems, timescales, financials, to support, contribute to, and integrate within DSVs annual business objectives and long-term strategy.
  • Plan and manage departmental activities & performance in accordance with agreed budgets, targets and within policies and standards.
  • Provide PAN-Europe support for chemical operations both for both stakeholders and clients
  • Ensure compliance with company QHSE policies and practices and develop and execute additional Policies in line with industry best practice and Responsible Care.
  • Assess and monitor QHSE training requirements for DSV staff in consultation with departmental heads, ensuring QHSE training is developed and delivered in house to DSV employees with training records maintained on core matrix.
  • Manage QHSE & DGSA regulatory / corporate compliance for DSV Chemicals ensuring all changing and new legislation is effectively communicated to both the board and operations.
  • Perform trend analysis of local QHSE statistics to identify areas of deficiency and concern ensuring measures are introduced to rectify.
  • Perform active monitoring techniques such as QHSE/DGSA auditing to identify opportunities for process/ operational improvements. Monitor and review to ensure improvement plans are being adhered to.
  • Conduct Health & Safety risk assessments to ensure that where possible risk is eliminated, or where not reasonably practicable ensure residual risk is managed through implementation of suitable control measures with all risks communicated effectively toall relevant personnel.
  • Maintaining a positive H&S culture and offering a consistent approach when communicating the QHSE message to company personnel, interacting at all levels.
  • Networking through attendance at industry and trade groups and seminars in order to gather information and improve knowledge on QHSE issues.
  • Integrate with customer base, incorporating customer visits, meetings, presentations and advice on QHSE issues.
  • Maintain a good working knowledge of all The Health and Safety Executive (HSE) legislation and any developments that affect the industry and company customers.
  • Maintain a current working knowledge of CLP/GHS issues and updates, being able to apply this knowledge to customer requirements in assisting them ensure continued compliance

Person Profile - Essential.
  • Hold a NEBOSH certificate (minimum)
  • Hold a current DGSA Road certificate- All Classes
  • ISO 9001 Lead Auditor
  • Hold a degree level qualification in an industry related subject.
  • Extensive knowledge of current QHSE standards and legislation
  • Qualification in or detailed experience of QHSE Management Systems
  • Competent MS Office skills.
  • Be results oriented and have high business acumen.
  • Possess effective English verbal and written communication skills
  • The ability to plan and prioritize workload and have good administrative skills
  • Work with people at all levels to maintain, communicate and support an integrated QHSE MS.
