Job Description

Are you a talented and driven finance professional Do you want to work in an exciting city with other talented people where your expertise can make a significant impact on a large-scale transformation programme and play a key part in our finance improvementjourney If so then we have an exciting new opportunity for a Project Accountant that may be of interest to you.A council we are working with has been embarking on an exciting transformation programme of unprecedented breadth and scale. As a result, they are expanding their Transformation Team and are looking for a Benefits Realisation Accountant, essentially operatingas a project accountant, providing financial oversight on benefits realisation across the programme.

  • Hybrid worker (3 days in the office ideally).
  • Requirement to the end of Financial Year 31st March 2024, this person will help shape our requirements around supporting transformation beyond this date.
  • Sits within the Finance & Resources Directorate reporting to the Director of Finance Business Partnering and working closely with the Finance Director (Deputy S151) - Technical and Strategic and wider Senior Leadership Team.
  • Working closely with Corporate Transformation Director and their PMO team you will engage with various teams, including group finance group managers, project managers, business analysts, and subject matter experts, fostering a collaborative relationshipsto maximise the programme success.
Key Responsibilities:In this role you will:
  • contribute to defining clear and measurable financial benefits for each initiative and monitoring the delivery across the transformation programme.
  • help protect the financial benefits through initiating corrective actions where problems may occur, or where senior managers have made decisions that may make benefits difficult to achieve. provide the Council with confidence that the financial benefitsare realistic and are being effectively managed through challenge, advice and support.
  • prepare regular financial reports for project sponsors and senior management, presenting financial progress, challenges, and opportunities in a clear and concise manner.
  • be responsible for developing financial benefits realisation policies and procedures as well as financial benefits trackers.
  • support the organisation to build its understanding and knowledge of benefits management.
  • create actional deliverables for communications plans, change roadmaps, coaching plans, training plans and resistance management plans.
What you’ll need:Proven experience as a Project Accountant, Financial Analyst, or similar role. We would love to hear from you if you are passionate about delivering change that benefits people.You will have strong numerical and verbal critical reasoning skills and have accountancy skills that help define and project future benefits and associated costs. Exceptional analytical skills and proficiency in financial modelling and data analysis. Excellentcommunication and presentation abilities, with the capacity to interact effectively with stakeholders at all levels.
