Job Description

Project AccountantLocal AuthorityLiverpool£625 a day (Inside IR35)Contract till March 2024 (may extend)Our local authority client is a hub of vibrant and innovative initiatives, and they play a pivotal role in fostering transformation across their diverse and dynamic region. They strive to create a future where our actions today facilitate sustainable and progressiveoutcomes for the community tomorrow.As a Project Accountant, you will play a critical role in ensuring that financial benefits of each initiative across the transformation programme are clearly defined, measurable, and effectively managed. Your expertise in financial management and your strategicforesight will aid in safeguarding and enhancing the financial success of the projects.Key ResponsibilitiesFinancial Benefit Management:

  • Contribute to defining, monitoring, and delivering clear and measurable financial benefits for each initiative.
  • Protect the financial gains by initiating corrective actions and advising on alternative strategies where challenges arise.
  • Provide challenge, advice, and support to ensure that financial benefits are realistic and efficiently managed.
Reporting and Analysis:
  • Develop and present regular financial reports to project sponsors and senior management, articulating financial progress, challenges, and opportunities in a coherent manner.
  • Establish and manage financial benefits realisation policies, procedures, and trackers.
Communication and Change Management:
  • Produce actionable deliverables for communications plans, change roadmaps, coaching plans, training plans, and resistance management plans.
  • Assist in building the organisational understanding and knowledge of benefits management through supportive and collaborative approaches.
Qualifications and Experience:
  • A degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Relevant professional qualification (e.g., ACCA, CIMA, CPA).
  • Proven experience in project accounting, preferably within a public sector environment.
  • Expertise in financial reporting, benefits management, and strategic financial planning.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
