Job Description

Blackstone Recruitment are working with a Primary Care Network who are recruiting for Pharmacy Technicians to work in the Liverpool area.This is a permanent positionJob Summary

  • Working for a PCN
  • Improving repeat prescribing processes within the PCN
  • Helping patients to get the best from their medicines by switching medications to approved alternatives medication reviews where appropriate
  • Carrying out medicines optimisation tasks including effective medicine administration (e.g. checking inhaler technique)
  • Synchronising medicines for patient transfers between care settings, liaising with local community pharmacies, care homes, carers and/or hospital pharmacy teams where appropriate
  • Completing medicines reconciliation for patients following their discharge from hospital or attendance at outpatient clinics
  • Liaising with community pharmacists to align support for medicines adherence, such as Medicines Use Review (MUR) and New Medicine Service (NMS)
  • Managing shared care protocols and liaise with the PCN Lead Pharmacist for more complex cases
  • Following any action plans formulated by the PCN Lead Pharmacist in response to safety alerts issued
  • Converting prescriptions for suitable patients medicines to electronic repeat dispensing
  • Supporting the rollout of vaccinations
  • Partaking in audit completion or implementation of recommendations as directed by the PCN Lead Pharmacist
  • Suggesting areas for quality improvement and potential clinical audit to the PCN Lead Pharmacist
  • Facilitating the switching of medicines to more cost-effective alternatives
Job SpecificsBanding: 5Salary: £27,000 per annumWorking Hours: 37 hour per weekContract Type: PermanentEssential Criteria
  • To be a qualified Pharmacy Technician (NVQ 3 Pharmacy Services and BTEC Pharmaceutical science or equivalent)
  • Member of the General Pharmaceutical Council
  • Right to work in the UK
  • Accredited checking experience is desired
  • PCN or hospital experience
