Lead Consultant Clinical Scientist: Radiotherapy(Band 8D)We are looking for a candidate with significant experience in radiotherapy physics, who is already a recognized Medical Physics Expert with a certificate of competence from RPA2000 and registration with the Academy of Healthcare Science (AHCS) as a Higher Specialist Scientist (HSS). In addition, the post will require the demonstration of practical management and leadership skills.The Clatterbridge Cancer Centre NHS Foundation Trust is one of the UK’s leading providers of non-surgical cancer treatment, caring for a population of 2.4 million people across Cheshire & Merseyside, North Wales, the Isle of Man and parts of Lancashire. Our flagship specialist cancer hospital in Liverpool opened in June 2020, supported by our hospital on the Clatterbridge Health Park in Wirral and our radiotherapy treatment centre on the Aintree Hospital site.Working with leading experts from The University of Liverpool and the Cancer Research UK Liverpool Cancer Trials Unit we strive to stay at the forefront of novel treatments and techniques to deliver more effective and personalised treatments than ever before.Most radiotherapy is provided from the new cancer centre, with additional radiotherapy services provided by two satellite radiotherapy treatment centres (CCC-Aintree and CCC-Wirral). We are also the only facility in the UK providing low-energy proton beam therapy to treat rare eye cancers (CCC-Wirral).Clatterbridge Cancer Centres Physics department employs over 30 clinical scientists involved either in the provision of support to the Radiotherapy or Imaging departments or in academic research.
