Job Description

Junior Technical EngineerLocation:LiverpoolAs a Junior Technical Engineer you will work closely with the IT Manager in providing technical support to the business by resolving 1st, 2nd and 3rd line requests that are reported and escalated through their IT Service Desk. This also includes supportingand maintaining the businesses physical and virtual IT infrastructure estateYou will help troubleshoot, implement, analyse, and maintain the IT Infrastructure; including network connectivity and utilisation, Windows server administration, Virtualization, performance tuning, backup and restores.The role involves troubleshooting issues, planning changes, proactivity handling IT Service Requests, analysing logs and researching new technologies or fixes.The ResponsibilitiesYour main responsibilities will be as follows:

  • Provide 1st, 2ndand 3rdLine IT Support to all colleagues in a timely and professional manner
  • Configuration and administration of Microsoft Active Directory, DNS, DHCP and Group Policy
  • Troubleshoot and isolate faults relating to both server (virtual & physical) and network infrastructure
  • Fault diagnosis and rectification of Desktops, Notebooks, Servers, Printers and other peripheral devices
  • Part of the core team responsible for the infrastructure and systems located on-premise or in the Microsoft Azure cloud
  • Ensure all workstations and peripheral devices are configured in accordance with business polices adhering to their ISO 27001 standards at all times
  • Provide technical guidance in initiating infrastructure/technical based service improvements
  • Ensure that any technical changes or improvements are carried out with the utmost care and consideration for the wider business impact.
  • Provide IT Support outside of the core business hours when addressing system outages, troubleshooting steps and planned maintenance
The Skills RequiredThey are looking for a highly professional, dynamic engineer with knowledge and experience in all support areas (1st, 2ndand 3rdline support). They are a progressive business who use latest technologies and innovate in their spacethey need someone whocan keep up with this, who is naturally forward thinking and innovative with their approaches to support.Skill requirements for this role include:
  • At least 3 years experience supporting end users and administering IT infrastructure environments.
  • Good teamwork, organisational and customer service skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively both within the team and internal stakeholders
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • A strong level of knowledge and experience working with Microsoft Azure and Windows Server 2012 R2 / 2016
  • A strong level of knowledge of configuring and administering Office 365 including Exchange Online
  • A strong level of knowledge of configuring and administering Active Directory including on-premise, Azure AD and ADFS
  • Administration and maintenance of virtual server estate including Microsoft Hyper-V Cluster and Microsoft Azure
  • High level of knowledge and experience managing firewalls (in particular WatchGuard) including VPN, BOVPN and NAT configurations
  • Network switching/routing knowledge including administering VLANs, routes, ports and troubleshooting network traffic issues
  • PowerShell and scripting for Dev Ops/automation purposes
