Job Description

As Head of Data Governance, you will oversee the Records Management Team and the Data Standards Team

  • Managing the lifecycle of all records across the Commission and ensuring data quality best practice
  • Managing the Information Asset and working with Information Asset Owners to understand their responsibilities and obligations

  • Communication skills (data). You will mediate between people and mend relationships, communicating with stakeholders at all levels. You will manage stakeholders expectations and facilitate discussions across high risk and complex situations or under constrainedtimescales. You will speak and represent the Commission to large audiences inside and outside of government
  • Master data. You will be responsible for the implementation and maintenance of master data management processes, including classification, security, quality, ethical principles, retrieval & retention processes and the maintenance of the Commissions datadictionary
  • Data innovation. You will investigate emerging trends in data-related approaches (governance, processes and information asset management), performing horizon-scanning for the organisation and introducing innovative ways of working
  • Data integration design. You will establish standards and you keep abreast of best practice in industry and across government. You will keep these standards up to date and ensure adherence to them.
  • Data modelling. You understand the concepts and principles of data modelling and will produce, maintain and update relevant data models for specific business needs. You will reverse-engineer data models from a live system.
  • Problem resolution (data). You will anticipate problems and know how to prevent them. You will understand how problems fit into the larger picture. You will identify and describe problems and help others to describe them. You will build problem-solvingcapabilities in others
  • Programming and build. Collaborate with Information Asset Owners to take ensure accountability and consideration is given to accessibility, retrievability, security, quality, retention and ethical handling of specific subsets of data
  • Technical understanding (data governance). You will predict and advise on future technology changes that present opportunities for a product or programme
