Job Description

Group Board Member£13,800LiverpoolFixed Term, Part TimeTorus is a growth and regeneration group with a commitment to creating sustainable, stable and thriving communities through support, investment, development and regeneration. Its activities and partnerships play a key role in social and economic developmentwhich are rooted in the heartlands of Warrington, St Helens, and Liverpool. With over 40,000 properties and 74,500 customers Torus is the North West’s largest providerof affordable homes which also works with several other organisations to deliver both homes and services which benefit the community as a whole.Torus is now seeking a Board Member who can bring strategic insight and experience to the organisation to help to promote its long-term success. The successful candidate will work with Executive and non Executive colleagues to ensure that the Group achievesits aims and objectives efficiently, effectively and in accordance with legal and regulatory requirements.As part of the recruitment process, we are particularly eager to promote diversity and identify outstanding individuals to support one of the Northwests most high-profile organisations, which has a strong socialpurpose, with a demonstrable presence which impacts on its communities in the Region.Key duties will include:

  • Support and constructively challenge, as necessary, the Executive Team.
  • Promote good governance and ensure that Torus acts in accordance with its constitution, governance framework and relevant legal and regulatory framework.
  • Provide oversight of the integrity of financial information, scrutinising and approving each year’s budget, business plan and annual accounts.
  • Monitor performance in relation to its objectives, plans, budgets, controls, and decisions. Ensure that the organisation has in place a robust and effective risk management framework.
  • Oversee an appropriate framework of delegation and control.
  • Attend functions, training sessions, away days and other meetings as required from time to time. Promote and champion the organisation’s values internally and externally.
  • Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with colleagues.
  • Attend, prepare for and participate in Board and relevant Committee meetings.
Candidates considered will have senior level experience of working within an organisation of a similar scale and complexity. Prior and proven experience operating in a NED, Chair, Trustee or Committee role is also essential as is the ability to think strategically,act independently, and build strong collaborative relationships.Personal Behaviour and Style

Terms and ConditionsThe total time commitment is approximately 15 days per annum which includes board meetings, typically held at Offices in the Heartland Areas of Liverpool, St Helens or Warrington.
