Job Description

Do you have experience of organising exams in any UK education setting (school, college, university, other)Are you open to a temporary roleAre you looking for a role where you can make a real impact and maintain a work/life balanceDo you want to work in a supportive school with traditional valuesIs it important for you to work in a motivated team that genuinely enjoy coming to work If so, this might be the role for youI am working with Bellerive FCJ Catholic College in Sefton, Liverpool, to find them a temporary to permanent Exams Officer to join their team as soon as possible.Bellerive have a great reputation as an employer who really look after their staff, demonstrated by their notably low staff turnover.Bellerive staff work collaboratively and share good practice to benefit the whole team.This role would suit an organised person with some exams experience, a desire to learn, and strong IT skills.Important Details:

  • £11-13 per hour
  • The role is all year round, but the school are happy to consider part year
  • Some flexibility on hours e.g. around the school run
  • 37.5 hours a week 08:00-16:00. The school will consider part-time

Duties of the Exams Officer:
  • Complete all exam entries (internal and external)
  • Communicate information from Exam boards to relevant staff (regulations, syllabuses, INSET materials, changes etc)
  • Construct exam timetables
  • Input coursework marks to send to Exam Boards and send samples to moderators
  • Ensure the secure storage of exam papers, and the efficient dispatch of completed papers
  • Organise, supervise, and take part in exam invigilation, including the recruitment, training, and allocation to exams of the team of external invigilators
  • Ensure all procedures associated with the disapplication of students from exams are carried out
  • Organise seating plans and room allocation for all exams and liaise with site staff regarding the set up where necessary
  • Produce and distribute personalized exam timetables for all pupils
  • Ensure exams are carried out according to JCQ guidelines
  • Organise the communication of exam results to students, deal with queries and attend GCSE and A level results days (and the day preceding each)
  • Facilitate the analysis of results
  • Maintain exam records
  • Deliver training to exam invigilators
  • Resolve all timetable clashes and make appropriate provision for pupils affected
  • Check certificates and ensure students receive their certificates securely
  • Attend Area Exam Officers meetings and Exam Board training
  • Liaise with the SENDCo in supporting students who qualify for access arrangements, apply for special considerations as per procedure
The Exams Officer Must have Experience of:
  • Working in a school/college or admin environment
  • Managing the admin of exams
  • Work with confidential and/or sensitive materials
  • Managing other members of staff, such as invigilators
  • Managing time and workload to meet deadlines
  • Using a management information system (MIS)
  • Working with data sets
  • Working with awarding bodies and regulatory organisations, e.g., JCQ
  • Complying with statutory regulations set by external bodies
The Exams Officer Must:
  • Communicate effectively
  • Be competent with common IT systems, e.g., Microsoft Office, MIS
  • Manage time and plan effectively
  • Work flexibly and quickly under pressure
  • Work across multiple projects and deadlines
  • Follow policies and procedures set by the school and external agencies
  • Be organised
  • Be calm under pressure
  • Work well in a team, and independently
