Job Description

Role: Environmental ManagerLocation: Liverpool (with occasional site visits)Salary: £40-50k + benefits depending on experienceYou will join the existing HSEQ team and enjoy championing and promoting environmental awareness, assessing impacts and aspects, compliance with their site permits and provide expertise in environmental legislation and behaviours to the Group. Working incollaboration with the Group HSEQ Manager, the Senior Management Team and the Board to put in place effective activities concerned with compliance, and the development and application of procedures relating to environmental systems and standards.This willensure the prevention, control and remediation of any environmental impactsKey Responsibilities:

  • Support the site managers to ensure that all staff work to the required environment procedures and processes in line with the companys HSEQ policy
  • Support the Site Managers to ensure compliance with the site permits including taking the lead on new permit applications or variations to existing permits
  • Responsible for maintaining the ISO14001 accreditation
  • Responsible for maintaining the CMS accreditation
  • Responsible for maintaining and managing the aspect and impacts register
  • Supporting the Group to deliver the Groups Sustainability Targets
  • Supporting the Group environment targets in waste reduction and energy consumption
  • Support the Company in complying with its obligations to environmental standards as defined by legislation and in appropriate ISO standards and other regulations in force at any given time.
  • Maintain and develop the Companys EMS and IMS (Integrated Management System), including but not limited to policy development, in collaboration with the Group HSEQ Manager, the Senior Management Team and Directors as required.
  • Ensure activities meet, conform, and integrate with organisational requirements for environmental management; including, but not limited to, the securing of and compliance with relevant licences, permits; and the development of appropriate policies andprocedures.
  • Support the Group HSEQ Manager as the management representative for the Group fulfilling the requirements as defined in the ISO 14001 standards.
  • Support any environment incident investigations to determine root cause and make recommendations for improving reoccurrence, prevention, controls, and effective monitoring
  • Conduct periodic reviews/analysis of environment incidents, providing feedback on significant trends and occurrences as appropriate
  • Conduct environmental site compliance assessments; monitor, measure, and report on operational issues, including but not limited to the Aspects & Impacts Register, Compliance Register, Company Scorecards and non-compliance reports within agreed formatsand timescales
  • Provide support and data for tender submissions in respect of environmental requirements.
  • Develop and maintain systems and methods for internal and external audits, in collaboration with the Group HSEQ Manager.
  • Ensure appropriate systems are established and maintained for managing and measuring necessary aspects of data, records and reporting mechanisms including but not limited to the IMS; ensuring all information is presented in a meaningful manner; interpretingdata as appropriate.
  • Liaise with personnel from joint venture organisations, government organisations, trade associations, service providers and other regulatory bodies, as and when required, on all matters relating to compliance at any site; ensuring all matters are addressedwithin agreed budgets, formats, and timescales.
  • Make recommendations on contracts and service level agreements for the disposal of materials including, but not limited to general office waste, soiled absorbents, ink cartridges and toners.
  • Perform SWOT analyses on opportunities relating to environmental aspects of the business and carry out appropriate tasks when requested
  • Work with the Group HSEQ Manager to develop individual knowledge and expertise and mentor and train other staff as appropriate, fostering an ethos of continuous learning, self-development and continuous professional development.
  • Promptly alert line and functional management to significant environmental incidents
  • Support the sites to ensure that the EA are notified in accordance with the permit when any breaches occur.
  • Deliver agreed KPIs and targets
Essential:
  • Recognised professional qualifications e.g., IEMA; NEBOSH (Environmental Diploma)
  • Experience of working within a compliance environment
  • Proven leadership and management experience
  • Demonstrable experience within a similar role
  • Knowledge of Environmental Legislation and relevant Government Regulations
  • Evidence of a pro-active can do approach
  • IT Literate with the ability to use a range of job specific packages, including Microsoft Office suite
  • The ability to deliver verbal and written reports to staff at all levels
  • Excellent literacy and numeracy skills
  • Full, clean driving licence
