Job Description

Design Technician - Instrumentation & Process EngineeringAlecto recruitment are currently representing a Industry leading Environmental Engineering company, now seeking an additional Design Technician to join their team in Liverpool.Established over 30 years ago and with offices across the UK, my client are well placed to provide extensive UK support coverage offering complete turnkey solutions from design, to installation, maintenance and repair.Caterings for a number of applications from personal safety such as gas, leak & odour detection, through to environmental protection, this role will see the successful applicant working within a variety of industries including; oil & gas, energy from waste, power, water utility, petrochemical, commercial/industrial refrigeration and manufacturing.The Role:The Role of Design Technician will be see the successful candidate working with others throughout the business to ensure drawings and documentation submittal dates are constantly achieved, and drawings are generated to a high standard. You will implement templates and update drawing libraries as projects progress to enhance efficiencies for future projects.Duties will include:

  • Producing detailed electrical and instrumentation drawings (CEMS and gas detection systems) and document packs for issuance to production, installation and commissioning teams.
  • Writing detailed technical documentation to support CEMS and Gas Detection projects.
  • Documentation control - ensuring all documents are created, logged and delivered to schedule.
  • Generating relevant documentation throughout project lifecycle.
  • Working alongside the Design Manager and Systems Engineer to maintain drawing control.
  • Liaising with project manager, sales and clients regarding documentation and design requirements.
  • To support activities as required by the Project Team.
  • Creating document templates for the Engineering Department.
  • Active and positive participation of document change control.
  • Track projects through to installation and assist with FAT (factory Acceptance Test).
  • Any other reasonable request from management.
  • Strive for service excellence.
  • The Candidate:
  • Strong knowledge of instrumentation and process engineering.
  • Highly organised and conscientious with a keen eye for detail.
  • Previous work with CEMS or gas detection desirable.
  • Excellent analytical skills.
  • Previous experience with creating and controlling drawings and documentation.
  • High level of computer literacy, including AutoCAD, MS Office and Adobe Acrobat.
  • Capable of working independently and able to work with others to meet targets and deadlines.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Project would be advantageous.
  • Qualifications
  • Minimum NVQ 3 in Electrical Based Engineering.
  • BTEC, HNC or HND in Electrical Based Engineering desirable.
  • 18th Edition advantageous.
  • Engineering Degree such as FdEng/BEng advantageous.
  • Package:
  • £28,000 - £32,000 per annum
  • 22 days holiday rising to 25 days + bank holidays
