DBA Team LeaderAn established law firm based in Liverpool City Centre are currently on the lookout for a DBA Team Leader to join the team. The DBA Team Leader is responsible for ensuring the DBA Team efficiently manage their day-to-day activities and provide focus on deliveryfor the team. The successful candidate must possess strong end to end SQL Server skills in order to support the IT department as a whole.Key Duties and Responsibilities Scope of the Role* To provide technical guidance and leadership to the DBA Team * Work collaboratively with the Lead Database Administrator, Head of IT Applications and Technical Design Lead to ensure alignment of best practice and architectural standards * Work with the Head of IT Applications to establish team goals and objectives * Lead and manage a team of DBAs responsible for maintain and delivering database change. * Setting and assessing team member objectives and performance * Delegate tasks and set deadlines * Oversee day-to-day team activities, productivity and availability * Monitor team velocity metrics * With the support of the Agile Head of IT Applications perform team member PDRs (appraisals) and establish training needsDatabase Administrator Responsibilities* To become part of the wider IT Applications teams implementing enhancements and carrying out day to day support of BI and departmental initiatives. * Maintain availability and performance of all business critical SQL Servers 24-7. * Responsible for database and query performance optimisation (tuning, indexing and integrity/consistency checking). * Maintains database performance by calculating optimum values for database parameters; implementing new releases; completing maintenance requirements. When performance issues arise, determine the most effective way to increase performance including hardwarepurchases, server configuration changes, or index/query changes. * Install and configure new SQL Servers. * Document the companys database environment. * Responsible for the database disaster recovery which includes managing a timely SQL backup schedule and testing them to ensure recovery without data loss. * Recommends solutions by defining database physical structure and functional capabilities, database security, data back-up, and recovery specifications. * Capacity planning and reporting: monitor file system space, database allocation, etc.; verify efficient use of disk storage;optimize space allocation and avoid out-of-space situations. * Work with IS development stakeholders to capture their business requirements as well as designing and providing solutions. * To develop and apply skills in project management, business analysis, and technical excellence.The role is offering a salary of up to £62,000 in addition to a range of benefits.
