Job Description

Reed in Partnership is a public service provider specializing in skills training for the long-term unemployed, increasing employment opportunities by working with employers,providing youth services and helping people live healthier lives.The Role:The purpose of the Contract Accountant is to support the Head of Contract Accounting in the provision and continuous improvement of accurate, timely and well-presented net income information.The Contract Accountant will provide analytical information and business partnering to the operational management teams to allow them to fully understand revenue and supply chain costs within their contracts, and the financial implications of their actions.Additionally, they will contribute to the ongoing evaluation of revenue recognition policies in accordance with UK GAAP and in line with agreed company accounting procedures. They will also support effective financial controls with the periodic reconciliationof balance sheet accounts.The Contract Accountant will be responsible for the production of the weekly income forecasts to operational management, ensuring the information provided accurately reflects the expected performance of the business.Key Requirements

  • Qualified accountant (preferably CIMA or ACCA), preceded by a strong academic record.
  • Previous experience in a fast moving, high volume, multi-site environment, such experience to include preparation of monthly revenue accounts at a detailed level of accruals and prepayments, balance sheet reconciliations, KPI preparation and interpretationand forecasting.
  • Demonstrable experience of working in a fast paced, changing finance environment and driving through change
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel.
  • Good accounting systems knowledge, gained through in-depth exposure to systems such as Oracle, SAP, CODA
  • A minimum of 2 A-Levels or an equivalent Level 3 Diploma
  • GCSE English Language at a minimum of a Grade B (or equivalent Level 2 qualification). OR achievement of a Level 2 in Literacy Assessment at interview stage.
