LIVERPOOL UNIVERSITY HOSPITALS NHS FOUNDATION TRUSTCONSULTANT ROBOTIC PELVIC CANCER UROLOGISTThe Liverpool University Hospitals Foundation Trust wishes to appoint a Consultant Surgeon, with a special interest in the surgical management of bladder cancer. Due to the nature of the post, it is recognised that a period of mentoring may be required initially and, in addition to technical support from within the department, there is an established mentoring scheme for new Consultant appointments across the Trust.The post is based at principally at the Broadgreen Hospital and Royal Liverpool Hospital sites and is to join an enthusiastic team dedicated to providing a high quality Urology service for patients in Cheshire, Merseyside and further afield.This hospital is a designated Urological Cancer Centre with specialist MDTs for prostate, bladder, kidney and testis cancer. The pelvic cancer team has a joint clinic and specialist MDT with oncologists from the regional Radiotherapy Centre at Clatterbridge Centre for Oncology. The team also works closely with both the colorectal surgeons and the gynae-oncologist surgeons at the Liverpool Women’s Hospital, and collaborate in pelvic exenteration surgery.On the Broadgreen site there is a purpose built Urology Centre with a full complement of outpatient, diagnostic and specialist nurses. There is also easy access to on the day USS, flow rates and flexible cystoscopy. We also undertake prostate biopsy, bladder botox injections, lithotripsy and cystodiathermy within the department. The Hospital has excellent interventional and imaging radiology support and an on-site nuclear medicine department.The post is equivalent to 10PAs per week inclusive of 1.5 SPA time allocated to undertake all necessary continuing professional development (CPD). The Trust supports the requirements for CPD as laid down by the GMC and surgical colleges and is committed to providing time and financial support for these activities.Prospective applicants must be on, or within 6 months of entry to, the specialist registrar, have the FRCS (Urol) and be fully registered with the GMC.
