Job Description

We are currently working with a public sector client, looking for a Communications Manager to join their team on a 12 month basis.This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Communications Manager to join a vibrant, rewarding team. The role will include a mixture of remote and onsite work, so we are ideally looking for a North East (Liverpool) based candidate.As the Communications Manager you will oversee all media and public relations activity for our client. Were looking for someone with experience dealing with press, both proactively and reactively. Supporting the delivery of the corporate communications strategic plan, ensuring media coverage actively reflects our client’s activity.You will use your strong stakeholder management experience to foster and manage positive working relationships with key journalists on high profile, sensitive and often complex issues.Alongside this, day to day duties will include:

  • Ensuring that the client has appropriate and effective communication mechanisms and systems in place to provide relevant, useful and appropriate information to key audiences
  • Lead and respond to the production of ministerial briefings, parliamentary questions and other such information requests.
  • Develop and implement external communications plans which support corporate, divisional or department objectives
  • Lead on advertising and sponsorship opportunities
  • Undertake full line management responsibilities for the External Communications Team
  • Lead on the effective management of often complex reputational issues such as serious untoward incidents, highlighting potential issues and risk areas to the Board and senior managers
  • Develop complex awareness raising and major behaviour change campaigns to meet the client’s strategic objectives
  • Oversee and report on the use of analytical information to understand the reach and impact of external communications to inform continuous improvement
  • Support and advise senior leaders and management, to ensure effective communications and engagement with overview and scrutiny committees
  • Ensure a robust stakeholder management system is in place
  • Contribute to the development, implementation and evaluation of social media and digital marketing campaigns
  • Contribute to the development and management of the client’s website and intranet
  • Contribute to the development of content across all social media channels and ensure the client has an effective social media plan
  • Oversee the development and production of videos and digital communications.
  • We are looking for an experienced Communications Manager, with previous experience of media management and dealing with the press.Alongside this we are also looking for:
  • Strong stakeholder management skills and the ability to work bother proactively and reactively is essential. The ideal candidate will have worked within media management and have experience dealing with high profile and sensitive issues
  • Demostrative experience of working at senior management level in a large, complex organisation
  • Advanced strategic planning skills and the ability to evidence long-term communication plans, including social media development
  • Flexibility as this role will require some out of hours working and may include regular on-call commitments
  • In return, our client offers a salary of between £45,500 - £51,000 per annum dependant on experience.The role will be initially remote however will require work on site at our client’s locations in Liverpool.
