Job Description

Our mission is simple to help the world Love Mondays.Every week, thousands of people across the UK start a new joband its our job to help them get there.REED is a specialist provider of permanent, contract, temporary and outsourced recruitment solutions.We are recruiting for experienced police investigation supervisor to assist with the conducting investigation of major crime in the Merseyside area.Required to be successful in this roleThe overall purpose of the role is to:To supervise a team of Police Staff Investigators (PSIs) dedicated to the progression of legacy homicides cases.To review records and documentation obtained during the course of such investigations to ensure legal and procedural compliance and to identify further investigative opportunities and to manage the evidence gathering, file preparation and presentation ofevidence at court in relation to legacy murder investigations.It is essential that the post holder has extensive experience in the following in order to review cases and to quality assure processes:Key responsibilities include:

  • An in-depth criminal investigation background including evidence of investigating complex and protracted enquiries
  • HOLMES 2 Manager Training and experience
  • Experience of reviewing murders / serious crime investigations
  • Experience in managing a team of investigators
  • Experience in the roles of statement reader and Office Manager during murder investigations managed on action logs or HOLMES system
  • Experience of authoring complex reports
  • Preparation of prosecution files
  • Liaising with CPS, legal representatives and other agencies involved in crime Investigations.
  • File management.
  • Experience of utilising Niche system.
  • Knowledge of law and national procedures in relation to major and serious crime, especially homicide.
  • Procedures in relation to RIPA and information handling Disclosure
  • Proven inter-personal and communication skills.
It is desirable that the post holder has experience of the following, in order to review cases, lead investigations and quality assure processes:
  • Experience working with major crime analysts.
  • Knowledge of major incident room procedures
These roles are 6 months appointments and paying £17.47 per hour PAYE.
