Job Description

My client, a Business Advisory Service & Accounts Practice is looking to recruit an experienced and dynamic Shared Service Centre - Finance Manager to join the Shared Service Centre (SSC) based in central Liverpool. This team is one of several Hubs within the companies rapidly growing (SSC).Youll be someone who is both comfortable working proactively and managing your own tasks, as well as confident collaborating with others and communicating regularly with senior managers, directors, and partners to help businesses effectively. Youll beencouraged to identify and draw attention to opportunities for enhancing delivery and providing additional services to organisations we work with.The key focus of this role; will be to assist and support the SSC Leadership Team in managing the financial performance of the individual delivery Hubs on strategic issues and on a day-to-day basis as well as providing relevant support,advice, and guidance to the overall team within the SSC on financial matters.Principal Accountabilities

  • Regular liaison with the central Finance function, overseeing the month end, quarterly and year end processes
  • Overseeing regular management reporting and developing reports to aid financial and commercial management
  • Overseeing the annual budget for individual delivery Hubs: liaising with Heads of Dept/Operations Managers and central Finance team as appropriate and overseeing the input of the data into the Firms budget model
  • Ensuring that SSC Chargeback processes are effective, timely and transparent to the service requestors in the business as well as to the Heads of Dept/Operations Managers. Strive for simplification and efficiency in the operation of SSC Chargeback
  • Management of a small internal finance team performing chargeback, analysis and other duties (approx. 3 FTE)
Support to SSC Management team
  • Agreeing and taking responsibility for development of local finance reporting to support the Heads of Dept/Operations Managers
  • Driving standardisation of MI and preparation of monthly packs for SSC Leadership and firm-wide stakeholders
  • Aiming for optimised use of functionality and reporting in Workday and Adaptive to drive best financial and commercial outcomes.
  • Monthly financial analysis and reporting to the Heads of Dept/Operations Managers plus the Group Financial Controller to enable informed planning and decision making. Including budget, rolling forecast, key performance indicators and analysis of variances
  • Trend analysis with timely identification of causes of risks/ problems with prompt suggestion for relevant actions, particularly including chargeback, staff utilisation, discretionary costs and variance analysis
  • Assist in the production and preparation of business plans and support the SSC Leadership in identifying and developing strategy for the SSC and individual delivery Hubs; providing support in driving through these strategic decisions
  • Support the Heads of Dept/Operations Managers in identifying and developing strategy for the individual Hubs; providing support in driving through these strategic decisions, showing initiative and problem solving
  • Raise financial awareness and system capability in the SSC extended management team (to Hub Lead level)
  • Supporting Hub Leads/Operations Managers to ensure there remains a continued consistency of approach and making suggestions for how processes and procedures can be improved
  • Other ad-hoc matters as required in support of the SSC leadership Team

  • Strong system skills, particularly in Workday, Power BI/Python and Excel
  • Partnership experience desirable
  • Strong communication and presentation skills
  • Qualified accountant or relevant financial experience
