Job Description

We are looking for an experienced SEN Teaching Assistant for a setting in Leyland, starting ASAP for the rest of the academic year.About the roleThis is a fantastic opportunity for a committed SEN Teaching Assistant to make a difference to pupils lives and their experience of education, The successful SEN Teaching Assistant will be required to work with small classes and 1:1 ranging from ages 9-16,assisting pupils in overcoming barriers to learning and dealing with behavioural issues associated with social, emotional and mental health needs.Many of the students in the setting have had a negative experience of formal educational settings in the past, but are able to overcome barriers due to their SEN Teaching Assistants being skilled, experienced and engaging. About the school The setting in an independent specialist day school for students aged 9-16 from around the North West who face various barriers to learning associated with social, emotional and mental health needs. Requirements To be considered for the role of SEN Teaching Assistant you will:

  • Have experience working with either small groups or 1:1 with students who may demonstrate challenging behaviour associated with SEMH needs.
  • Be able to provide a safe and positive learning environment.
  • Mentor and engage with the students, successfully delivering specifically designed educational packages.
  • Be confident and inspiring, with a positive approach that engages students in their learning.
  • Have excellent classroom management skills.
Salary is dependent on experience, training or qualifications. The minimum experience, training or qualifications required for this position are:
  • Holding a Level 2 Teaching Assistant qualification or equivalent.
