Job Description

This is an exciting opportunity to support the community with the organisation and co-ordination of activities within Lewisham to reduce the occurrence of crime. The post holder will lead on the successful implementation of the Home Office Safer StreetsProject by providing comprehensive project oversight, ensuring it is delivered to agreed timescales and within budget, as set by Home Office (HO) and the Police and Crime Commissioner (PCC). The post holder will work closely across the Safer Communities strandsincluding Violence Against Women and Girls, Anti- Social Behaviour and Licensing Night-time Economy, to ensure project delivery. The successful candidate will also be building and maintaining relationshipswith partner agencies and community representativesas required.As a Lewisham Officer you will:

  • Be responsible for delivering professional advice and support in the service area in partnership with others whilst promoting the councils’ vision, values, and ways of working.
  • Ensure the delivery of identified service objectives and continuous improvement of service targets.
  • Ensure performance and quality improvement through supporting and nurturing others to lead and manage innovative approaches to achieving results.
  • To ensure that all work is consistent with the borough’s crime reduction strategies and all
  • other relevant strategies.
  • Carry out the duties of the post with due regard to the Council’s Equal Opportunities Policy, core values and Anti-Discriminatory Practice guidelines.
  • Carry out these and any other duties within the scope of the post flexibly and with full regard to the confidential nature of the post.
  • To work flexibly with partnerships and external services to meet the needs of a diverse client base.
  • All employees are required to participate in the Performance Evaluation Scheme (PES) and to undertake appropriate training and development identified to enhance their work.
  • All employees are required to comply with the Council’s Health & Safety policies and procedures, taking due care for themselves, colleagues, and members of the public.
  • Assist in carrying out the Councils environmental policy within the day-to-day activities of the post. · Undertake other duties, commensurate with the grade, as may reasonably be required.
