Job Description

Penrose is looking for a talented and passionate Night Support Manager for our services supporting people with personality disorders to resettle in the community and lead happy, healthy lives, free from crime.As part of the Offender Personality Disorder (OPD) pathway, Penrose will provide supported accommodation for 12 men and 4 women across three residential sites in Lambeth, Lewisham and Redbridge. Working in partnership with NHS England and HMPPS and receiving referrals from the National Probation Service, we will support men and women in the pathway being released from prison, secure healthcare settings or moving on from Approved Premises. Our 24-hour service will provide far more than a roof over people’s heads; it will offer a base for a range of 1-1 and group interventions, delivered by our teams and by external partners, that will equip residents with the skills and confidence to move-on safely into independent living.This is an exciting opportunity to make a real difference supporting some of the most complex people in the criminal justice system and helping make communities safer. We are looking for an experienced individual with the motivation and commitment to support staff and service users to achieve their goals.Location:Your role will be based in either of our male residential services - either in Lewisham or Redbridge, where you will be included on the duty rota. Travel between both sites will be required to carry out line management responsibilities to night staff.The Role:The post holder will provide leadership and management of our night staff team delivering the Offender Personality Disorder Housing and Support Service. Working in collaboration with the National Probation Service and other partners within the Offender Personality Disorder (OPD) Pathway, you will support adult males who have recently been released from prison, secure health settings or who are moving on from Approved Premises. You will ensure provision of robust risk management, sharing information with probation and other partners to help keep your service users safe.You will ensure the service is adequately staffed at all times and will maintain a culture of learning and development through supervisions, appraisals and continuing professional development processes. You will deliver a coaching approach to your direct reports and ensure this approach is implemented throughout your team and adopted by frontline staff when supporting service users.You will support your night staff team to ensure they meet or exceed contract performance targets and achieve positive outcomes for their service users. You will be responsible for managing performance and reporting outcomes to Senior Management in a clear and timely fashion and taking swift action to address any areas of underperformance.You will support your team to provide effective and meaningful assessment, treatment and management of people with personality disorders which cause them to present as high risk. The service aims to reduce and manage the risk presented by clients in the least restrictive environment possible, reduce personality pathology and associated suffering and distress. It also aims to increase pro-social and adaptive behaviours in the areas of relationships, employment, education, community integration, promoting independence within the community and improved quality of life.Knowledge of the Criminal Justice System, excellent communication skills and being able to develop strong working relationships with your teams, commissioners and other key stakeholders will be vital to the role.
