Job Description

We are looking for experienced Healthcare Assistants and Support Workers to join our Trust.Permanent Roles – we have a variety of permanent roles available across the organisation and can accommodate both full-time and part-time working hours.Hospital Bank – We are also looking for people to undertake ad hoc shifts working via our internal Hospital Bank. Working via the Bank gives you the flexibility to get a real work life balance and work when it suits you.As a Bank Heathcare Assistant you will cover vacant shifts throughout the hospital, so you could be working in many different areas and with different teams. Working on the Bank can be very demanding for this reason.PLEASE NOTE: You must be able to work a minimum of two shifts a week on the Bank (unless you are a student nurse). The role of a Healthcare Assistant is that of a support worker who carries out a wide range of care duties directly with the patient, their relatives/carers and the nursing team.Health care duties are carried out after training, under the direction of a professionally qualified practitioner (such as a Nurse) and can include the following tasks:• helping patients to wash or shower• serving food and, if necessary, helping patients to eat• making and changing beds• turning patients who are confined to bed to avoid pressure sores• talking with patients to help them feel less lonely or anxious• helping patients with mobility problems to move around• giving out and collecting bedpans, helping patients to the toilet and removal of human wasteIt’s really important to consider before you make an application that some parts of the job can be distressing and unpleasant. You will be expected to help patients with personal care (such as washing or dressing) without being embarrassed or feeling awkward, communicate sympathetically with distressed relatives and care for patients who are physically very sick. For further details / informal visits contact:NameCaron FloodJob titleRecruitment Officer- Bank Healthcare Assistants & Bank ProfessionalsEmail addresscaron.flood@mcht.nhs.ukTelephone number
