Job Description

Are you passionate about quality, looking for a change that will challenge you, and help you develop new skillsDo you have proven experience as a Technologist or Senior Quality Assurance professional within a hard goods environment gained within a retail, manufacturing, test laboratory or supplier-based environmentAre you in interested in assessing various hard good products in compliance with local, national and international regulationsDo you want to be part of a fast-growing, dynamic, successful team as part of a FTSE 100 companyAbout the RoleOur client is looking to recruitProduct Technologiststo work within the Outsourcing Centre where the holder will be responsible for reviewing and assessing multiple non-food hardlines (hard goods … furniture, kitchenware, household items, electrical goods) related products, including packaging to ensure that the product is produced safely, legally and meets the highest standards of quality.The Product Technologist has strong product development and process design skills, with outstanding project management skills capable of managing multiple products at the same time. The role holder will be passionate about products, evaluating risk, providing technical solutions and advice to their clients concerning the feasibility of new products and packaging prior to going to market in order to ensure they are commercially viable.The role will involve:

  • Responsibility for managing products through a critical path process
  • Responsibility for fit /grade assessments and approvals
  • Responsible for merchandise / packaging approval
  • Approval of test reports and applicable legislative requirements
  • Ensuring all products comply to General Product Safety Regulations (GPSR) and applicable regulations
  • Liaising with suppliers/retailer on the progress of products
  • An appreciation of technical reports and product make up
  • Ensuring targets for efficiency and quality are met and maintained
    • The role will be based in Leigh where the site offers free parking and is a 30-minute drive to the centre of Manchester with fantastic commuter links including direct trains. The Leigh-Salford Manchester Bus Rapid Transit scheme, provides a guided bus way for a direct route to Manchester.The job is a permanent full time role that will require the job holder to work 40 hours per week Monday to Friday.The health and safety of employees is paramount to the company.   • Have a proven track record as a Technologist or Senior Quality Assurance within a hard goods environment gained within a retail, manufacturing, test laboratory or supplier-based environment
  • Have an in-depth knowledge of legislative and quality assurance parameters across multiple product lines (i.e. ISO, BS EN)
  • Have an in-depth knowledge of product development, manufacturing and range management
  • Good IT literacy skills (MS Office/Excel/Word)
  • Capability to work unsupervised and work within a small team environment
