My Client are currently working towards expansion into the Automotive sector by utilising our liquid cooled resistor as a braking device for heavy vehicles (buses, lorries trucks etc).Job Overview The role requires a candidate who is ambitious and motivated, who is keen to contribute to a dynamic, fast-paced project environment.The successful candidate will possess a strong working knowledge of Project Engineering (industry specific) and be able to successfully manage all aspects of a given project from inception to completion, possess an energetic personality as well as integratinginto our company culture.ResponsibilitiesBe responsible as main point of contact for the entire project life cycle from concept through to installation supportBe the lead engineer in the development of our EV (liquid cooled) product, working closely with the R&D department to specify, plan and oversee product testing.Take the lead role in the collating and submission of PPAP documentation and support the quality department in the APQP application.Be capable of multi-tasking and managing multiple projects at any given timeBuild strong relationships with customers and suppliers.Work with suppliers, along side other departments, to obtain relevant PSW documentation.Be responsible for technical aspects and liaise with contractual/commercial colleagues on your project(s) and ensuring compliance with client issued contracts, deliverables and specificationsProduce and manage all company and client project documentationScheduling and day to day project management of the project(s) under your controlEnsure compliance with industry and company standards, including project specific technical specificationsLeading design engineering including hands on use of 3D CAD to produce designs and supporting documentationProduction of technical test procedures and resulting reports together with technical documentation in accordance with company and project requirementsSupport and work closely with our manufacturing team to ensure efficient and cost-effective production of the productProvide technical advisory services to clients during the development & build processEvaluate, organise and prioritise workload within a given scheduleProduce detailed design documentation for projectUndertake technical studies and site investigationsAnticipate any potential project risks, identifying and establishing corrective actionsApply specific technical skills as required to support the customer or colleaguesAttend various meetings and action/communicate instructionsActively promote a strong SHEQ and continuous improvement culture.Occasional overseas travel may be required.Skills EssentialExperience of product approval processes within the automotive industry, including the use of IMDS.Critically evaluates technical and contractual informationAnalyses and understands technical challengesIdentifies long term technical development opportunitiesExcellent communication (written and verbal) skillsSound working knowledge of 2D and 3D CAD packageWorking knowledge of mechanical engineering practices - materials, FEA, fixings, fabrication etc.Ability to work to strict deadlinesAbility to develop strong working relationshipsStrong task and project leadership skills, identifying what is importantDesirableExperience of designing equipment for electrical applications.QualificationsDegree qualified in a role/industry relevant industryHNC/HND or equivalent Industry relevant Project Management qualifications would be advantageous but not essentialExperiencePrevious experience of working in a similar roleDemonstrable experience in project management.A proven track record in successfully executing multi-disciplined projects from inception through to completionPrevious experience working within the automotive sector
