Job Description

PAYROLL MANAGER / HYBRID WORKING / LEICESTER / up to £50,000 / PERMANENTMacildowie are pleased to be partnered exclusively with this long-standing client on their search for an experienced Payroll Manager to join this shared service centre based in Leicestershire.This is a new role to the business so you will have autonomy to look at process improvements and would suit a collaborative and forward-thinking individual with the ability to empower your team and drive change in a positive and considered way.THE ROLE:The main purpose of this role is to oversee the management and delivery of the monthly payroll, payroll reporting, system and process improvement and ensuring compliance with all relevant legislation.MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Managing and overseeing the day-to-day payroll activity to provide an efficient, compliant, and easy to access payroll function
  • Ensure the delivery of the processing of monthly payrolls, new starters, and leavers as well as any other payroll related change or calculations.
  • Managing the Auto Enrolment administration process.
  • Applying HMRC, Pension and National Minimum Wage regulations, ensuring robust auditing processes are in place to verify calculations are correct.
  • Ensuring submission of the monthly BACS files and ensuring timely release of payslips as well as the submission of all legislative reporting (RTI) and internal finance reporting.
  • Oversee all annual payroll activity including P11d and PSA submissions.
  • Responding to payroll escalations and resolving any issues, in a timely manner ensuring high levels of customer service are always maintained.
  • Development of the best practice to ensure that time critical objectives are achieved, and that robust processes and controls are constantly reviewed and updated accordingly.
  • Ensure GDPR is applied to all financial and non-financial data; including all payroll systems and employee data is secure and compliance is achieved against internal and external standards.
  • Provide the businesses with operational and management data to support the management and objectives of the business.
  • Provide leadership for your direct reports ensuring that the team is skilled and resourced to effectively support the function
  • Support and coach the team in their development ensuring team members have clear goals and objectives
  • Look at continuous process improvement, along with continuing to evolve our Payroll/HR system.
YOUR EXPERIENCE WILL INCLUDE
  • Experience working within a Payroll Management or lead payroll role
  • Good knowledge of HR & Payroll practices
  • Good knowledge of Payroll & Auto Enrolment Legislation
  • Experience of working with Zellis Resourcelink System is an advantage
  • Experience of working in a fast-paced environment with the ability to prioritise
  • Numerical and analytical skills are a must with strong understanding of Excel being advantageous
  • Must have a self-starter, motivated, can-do attitude with a drive
