Job Description

Responsibilities for manufacturing process engineer

  • Assures adherence to good housekeeping and safety practices with respect to all work performed
  • Develops, maintains, and ensures compliance with process control plans, quality assurance plans, and procedures
  • Assist in resolution of manufacturing issues and gives feedback for improvements in manufacturability
  • Plans and conducts activities related to the development of new processes including researching current and emerging technologies, evaluating process cost, quality, and capability alternatives, and performing process characterization and optimization usingproblem solving and decision-making tools
  • Facilitates technology transfer from process development to manufacturing processes for new product introductions, lead and coordinate all activities for modifications of existing processes, prepare process development protocols and coordinate all activitiesrelated to their execution, whilst practicing good project management & cost control
  • Facilitates communication and relevant training activities and act as liaison between colleagues and other leaders at the site
  • Ensures that the performance and quality of products conform to established standards, specifications, and customer requirements
  • Requires working knowledge of engineering principles and practices that can be applied to a broad variety of assignments in related fields, the ability to develop and apply creative technical solutions to complex problems, and working with manufacturing,process development, engineering, analytical, and quality assurance staff to develop requirements and recommendations for large and somewhat complex processes and systems
  • Provide day to day Manufacturing Engineering support for the workshop
  • Identify and initiate process improvements in conjunction with the Production Management team
  • Work with production, to build and ensure product quality and process capability is delivered
  • Requires the ability to troubleshoot systemic issues, develop, organize, analyze, and present interpretation of results regarding operational issues or projects, and apply advanced engineering principles to the design and implementation of new or modifiedsystems or processes
  • Has the ability to conduct operational (Time & Motion) studies to maximize workflow and spatial utilisation
  • Must be able to read/interpret and develop engineering drawings
  • Develop guidelines and best practices
  • Good time management skills aligned to the demands of tight deadlines
  • Apply lean manufacturing initiatives and best practices to maximise efficiencies throughout the company
  • Innovate on new forms of manufacturing technology
Qualifications for manufacturing process engineer
  • Proficient with common office software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint , etc)
  • Minimum HND Qualified with a desired 2+ years of significant engineering and/or operational experience
  • Measures performance to targets and implements remedial actions as instructed
  • Plans and conducts activities related to the development of new processes including researching current and emerging technologies, evaluating process cost, quality, and capability alternatives, and performing process
  • Strong knowledge and skills in the use of process development tools is preferred
  • Experience with Six Sigma/Process Excellence Tools/Lean Manufacturing and Methodologies
  • Good interpersonal, communication, planning and organizational skills, with ability to make and implement decisions
  • Motivated to work on own initiative with results-oriented attitude
  • Knowledge of CNC controlled equipment and machine code/programming whilst not essential would be an advantage along with strong equipment fault-finding, troubleshooting capability
  • Managing implementation of projects, technology transfer and manufacturing support systems
  • A hands-on approach is essential, with ownership of products and processes
  • Must be a team player with good communication skills, written and verbal
  • Self-motivated striving to find lean solutions to improvements and issues
  • Has experience of conduct validation and process transfers for equipment, from conception through to Implementation
  • Has developed and submitted justification for capital equipment projects
  • Proven track-record of supporting other plant personnel in process improvement & project management
