Role overviewTo support the implementation of modern, pro-active approaches to governance to facilitate robust decision-making which meet the needs of the organisation and its stakeholders. The postholder will work to embed good governance as part of Business as Usual(BAU) by responding to identified governance need across the organisation in a knowledgeable, pragmatic and professional manner.Client DetailsMy client is a global organisation for health and safety professionals, based in UKDescriptionRole responsibilities Governance and Senior Volunteer Support Provide governance support to Council, Council Sub Committees and Board Sub Committees, liaising closely with the Chair, Vice Chairs, SLT Leads and Senior Secretariat, establishing effective working relationships and proactively managing any governance matters.Attend and support Committee meetings providing timely and comprehensive governance advice and guidance including but not limited to any matters on governance pathways, Regulations, procedural or policy issues.Support the Governance Manager on the Institutions election and appointment processes to senior volunteer positions, including Council, Presidential team and Branches, Districts and Sections Executive Committees and any associated inductions.Provide timely governance advice to all members and volunteers on processes such as Branch elections, Branch AGMs including attendance at Branch AGMs.With the support of the Governance Manager proactively lead on recruitment processes for Board Committees, Nominations Committee and Benevolent Fund (IBF), including appointment processes and checks for new Volunteers and communication internally and externally.Day to day administration of the Declaration of Interests policy and associated Register to ensure compliance across the business, with all volunteers. Role profile description 2020 - CE0748.86/170620/PDFWith support from the senior governance team, act as a Directorate Liaison, as a single point of contact, to provide advice and guidance on any governance related matters, both proactively and reactively working within an agreed SLA.Providing support to the IBF and Committee including progressing applications, caseload and associated papers and reports, advising members and trustees appropriately as the governance expert and working collaboratively with the Finance team to ensure IBFpayments and donations are managed in accordance with processes.Complaints and Ethics With the support of the Senior Governance and Ethics Advisor, provide advice and guidance to members and staff on any matters relating to the Code of Conduct or where matters fall outside of the Code, signpost to alternative routes as appropriate.As allocated by the Senior Governance and Ethics Advisor, undertake investigations under the Code of Conduct and ensure compliance with the disciplinary procedures. Provide written reports as part of the investigation, including briefing the Director orany SLT member involved at any stage of the process and attend Disciplinary Committees as required to provide governance advice.Other Taking responsibility for your own health, safety and wellbeing, and undertaking health and safety duties and responsibilities for your role.Treating all employees, customers and stakeholders with dignity and respect, ensuring values and behaviours are always demonstrated.An understanding of Equality, Diversity and Inclusion and the ability to apply this to all situations.Carrying out any other reasonable and necessary duties within the remit of the role and grade.
