My client, a leading professional within the business service sector, is recruiting for an Financial Analyst due to expansion within the organisation.With a location of North Leicestershire, easily commutable from the East Midlands.This is an exciting opportunity to join an extremely successful business in an important senior role. This role would suit candidates from a Credit Analyst background who have:An in-depth understanding of company accounts and the ability to analyse and interpret financial information.A detailed understanding of proprietary financial models (e.g. Moody’s KMV CreditEdge, although training will be provided as and where required)Job Purpose:To assist the Credit Committee in making decisions concerning credit applications using a range of criteria including purpose of application, credit viability, competence, and customer creditworthiness.This role will be responsible to the Managing Director - Credit and Surety, and members of the Credit Committee.Key stakeholders:Internal - Managing Director - Credit and Surety, Executive Management, underwriters, accounts, statisticians, processing, compliance & legal, internal audit, claims and administration staffExternal - auditors, reinsurers, and reinsurance brokers Overview:The Credit and Surety DivisionTrade Credit Division: the provision of short-term Trade Credit insurance to policyholders in UK and IrelandSurety Division: the provision of bonds and guarantees in respect of contractual and/or regulatory obligations to clients domiciled globally, but with primary focus on Western Europe.Key Responsibilities:Information gathering, financial analysis, and report preparation on Surety & Trade Credit risks.Organising and facilitating all aspects of the Credit Committee meetings which take place every 2 weeks plus further ad hoc meetings as required.Liaise with Credit & Surety underwriters regarding submissions to the Credit CommitteeLiaise with external information providers and organise training sessionsMaintain the register of all Credit CommitteeLiaise with the Surety and Trade Credit Support Teams to ensure compliance with the Credit Committee decisionsMonitoring existing and potential risksFocus on macro and micro economic positionsLiaise with other departments to improve systems (Processing, IT)Liaise with other departments to provide and share financial, market and sector information (Credit, Claims, Statistical)Point of referral for technical queries from other departments (Processing, Credit, Statistical, Accounts, Compliance and Internal Audit)Maintaining standards of credit submissionsMonthly reporting and attendance at internal management meetings as requiredAttending Credit Committee meetings and preparing agendas, minutes and other reportsSpecial projectsOther duties as reasonably requested by the directorsPerformance ObjectivesEfficiently manage the volume of cases that require Credit Committee approval and to ensure the applications are properly prepared, so the committee is in a position to make a decision.Quickly gaining an understanding of the complexity of some of the cases that require consideration by the committee.Skills and Experience Specification:EssentialInitiativeUnderstanding of company accounts and ability to analyse and interpret financial informationDetailed understanding of proprietary financial models (e.g. Moody’s KMV CreditEdge, although training will be provided as and where required)Excellent communication and presentation skillsAble to thrive in a high paced environmentIT literateReliableAdaptableMotivatedConfidentDetail focusedGood organisational skillsGood team-workerAbility to work under pressureDesirableHonours GraduateRelevant qualifications in business studies, management, statistics, finance, mathematics, accounting and/or economicsCFA Institute member
