Job Description

About the roleThe Infrastructure Operations team procure, develop and maintain core infrastructure technologies, which support the Sytner Group’s services. Our drive is to provide efficient, reliable and high quality infrastructure, which maximises value and minimises risk. The Senior Infrastructure Engineer is responsible for leading the on-going support, protection, development, integration and operation of the Infrastructure services. The role involves maintaining performance, security and availability of key systems. The role holder will be experienced in large-scale Cisco networks and networking concepts (LAN & WAN), and will be able to troubleshoot and resolve complex IT issues in a timely manner.The role holder has depth of knowledge within their specialised area and will also be required to cross-skill into other infrastructure technologies in order to effectively support and develop our infrastructure services.Closely supporting the Head of IT Infrastructure, duties include improving operations within the infrastructure area, ensuring systems are up-to-date and compliant, pro-actively monitoring system performance and availability, ensuring SLAs are met and reacting to incidents both within business hours and out of hours by means of an on-call rota.About youExperience

  • Proven experience of working in a multi-disciplinary IT Infrastructure support function.
  • Three to Five years demonstrable experience of routing & switching for access, distribution and core Infrastructure using Protocols such as EIGRP, MPLS and spanning tree
  • Cisco Nexus, ASA Firewalls and Firepower.
  • F5 Load Balancers
  • Server/Network Architecture
  • Datacentre and application Migrations, solution design
  • Windows/Linux Server operating systems,
  • VMWare
  • Strong Linux experience
  • Windows / Linux Server administration
  • Experience using Ansible and PowerShell scripting.
  • Exposure to Infrastructure as code, automation and configuration management using products such as DSC, CHEF, Puppet, Terraform or similar.
  • Advanced troubleshooting
    • Skills, knowledge and abilities
  • Ability to work under pressure, at pace, and within tight timescales
  • Ability to own, develop and maintain systems, processes and work packages within defined technology.
  • Confidence with troubleshooting issues in a timely and professional manner.
