Job Description

Senior Financial ControllerLocation LeicesterReporting to: Financial DirectorTHE COMPANYOur client is one of the oldest and largest independent merchants operating within the UK, directly focusing on supplying the Commercial and Industrial Mechanical service sector through a branch network spread throughout the United Kingdom. It has beenon a strategic expansion programme which has seen turnover double in recent years, with plans for continued growth.JOB SUMMARY:• To be part of the management team and have an input into all relevant management decisions including overseeing the running of the Head Office accounts department.• Maintain the integrity of all accounting ledgers (nominal / sales / purchase / credit control) and systems. Ensure Reconciliation of Nominal Controls are carried out on a quarterly basis.KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:• Produce Monthly Accounts Assessments/Quarterly Management Accounts and Year End Management Accounts plus the usual supporting schedules/reconciliations including an extended TB & detailed schedule of management adjustments• Produce Year End Accounts for audit & consolidation plus all the usual supporting schedules (so audit fees can be kept to the minimum) including corporation tax computations• Reconcile Year End Accounts for Audit to Year End Management Accounts.• Ensure Year End Accounts / Tax Computations are passed by auditors without qualification whilst minimising audit fees• Assist with the production of Annual Budgets for all branches locations• Overview of monthly bank reconciliations and cash flow report.• Overview of Quarterly VAT Returns (including overseas VAT Returns where appropriate).• Oversee Monthly payroll plus all associated administration including monthly reconciled payments to HMRC, reconciled year end returns / P11Ds, bonus payments, etc ensuring all deadline are achieved• Maintaining proper paperwork for vehicles (including online insurance register), sorting fines, etc.• Oversee mobile phone purchasing (hardware and call packages) and administration.• Involvement in compilation, issue & updates of Contracts of Employment• Collate customer annual rebate accruals• Collate & monitor supplier rebate / support claims• Active involvement with supplier negotiations particularly regarding prompt settlements• Prepare paperwork for Insurance Claims (vehicle / property / liability), progress the claims & negotiate settlement.• Liaison with audit & banking contacts• Negotiating best utility rates for all sites.• Liaison on stakeholder/NEST pension schemes.• Active involvement in recruitment of accounts / admin staffAll employees are expected to be flexible in their duties and responsibilities and may be asked to perform other duties which reasonably correspond to the general character of their job and their level of responsibility.Person Specification Knowledge/skills/qualifications - For example:• Relevant Industry experience• Excellent Leadership and communication skills, including the ability to listen and effectively verbalise ideas, with proven ability to influence.   • Salary: £70,000 - £80,000 + Bonus (c. £15,000 per annum)
  • Hours: 9am-5pm (30 mins lunch)
