Job Description

NHS | Band 7 ftc | Remote workingNHS | Band 7 | Remote workingThe role:Our client is looking for an experienced comms and engagement officer with some experience of working in the NHS. The role supports a merger programme in providing communications and engagement expertise, support and assisting in the delivery of thestaff comms and engagement strategy for the new structure.Responsibilities:

  • Receive and process highly complex and often sensitive information and produce communications and marketing material from this, working in situations where cooperation is required from stakeholders and the owners of the information in order to overcomebarriers to their acceptance of the post holders decisions and the changes needed to transform material into persuasive communications content.
  • Responsible for regular communication and marketing activities that explain and interpret highly complex and often sensitive issues through the lens of audience opinion and customer needs. The post holder does this by demonstrating a clear grasp of theuser perspective and exercising the insight needed to create and adapt material in order to persuade large and diverse groups of customers and stakeholders, so that the reputation and performance of the NHS can be advanced.
  • Able to explain complicated issues fluently and persuasively and is an established and experienced communications professional, able to alter their style, tone, and approach to communications to suit their audience.
  • Demonstrates very strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Writes clearly in plain language, showing an expert grasp of the principles of writing for different channels including web, media, advertising, social media and marketing communications. Checks work extremely thoroughly for spelling and grammar, learningfrom previous inaccuracies.
  • Develops and implements communications plans, identifying the most effective channels and tools to engage audiences and maximise reach.
  • Manages internal and external relationships, ethically influencing people in order to change attitudes, opinions and behaviours, and getting win-win results.
  • Influences and persuades individuals, groups and committees to accept own judgement and decisions regarding the best structure, tone, style and presentation of material for different audiences.
  • Demonstrates knowledge and experience in the selection and use of a range of content and channels for specific target audiences by selecting appropriate visual and audio-visual material to improve the impact of communication (for example, photography, videosand infographics).
