Job Description

We are currently recruiting for aResidential Conveyancing ParalegalDuties:1. Undertake fee earning work in Residential Conveyancing in the Conveyancing department.2. Office Hours: 8:45am to 5:00pm Monday to Friday at the clients Leicester offices.3. 20 days holiday plus public holidays4. Option of a work place pension5. Perkbox subscription6. 10% bonus for all work brought inOverview:To ensure the successful development of the firm in line with the strategy identified which includes communicating with estate agents and also mortgage brokers to develop relationships whilst administering all aspects of Residential Conveyancing on behalf of clients.Key Tasks:1. Perform fee earning work accurately, reliably2.. Ensure proper control of work in progress, billing and other matters.3.Be effective in developing new work from existing clients and seek new clients for themselves and others whilst helping to develop and support marketing initiatives.4. Maintain and nurture an appropriate network of contacts and referrers and endeavour to promote the firm in their professional and personal lives.5. Gain or maintain IT skills appropriate to modern legal practice, such as ability to send, forward and respond to e-mails with or without attachments, conduct research on internet and ensure proper filing of all data.6. Understand the main uses and applications of the office telephone system - e.g. be able to reroute calls, set up conference calls, etc.Additional related tasks (not an exhaustive list):· Drafting letters and legal documents· Checking title documents to properties· Liaising directly with other parties with enquiries/replies· Undertaking searches with Local Authority, Land Registry etc.· Reporting to clients with relevant information on tier transaction and advising clients where necessary· Attending upon clients to sign legal documents· Drawing up completion statements· Agreeing dates with all parties and exchanging Contracts· Arranging the transfer of monies on completion· Submitting stamp duty forms and registering documents at Land Registry· Complying with Solicitors Accounts Rules and Rules of Professional Conduct of solicitors· Exercising high standards of client care at all times· Management of own support staff/secretary if applicable· Participation in marketing activities and active promotion of the firm· Financial control through collection of monies on account and billing procedures on own matters· Ensuring confidentiality and security of Firm’s and client’s documentation and information· Carrying out any other duties relevant to the position as and when required by the Partners of the Firm.Knowledge:18 months experience of conveyancing, in particular Sale and Purchase.Qualifications:· Completed a degree or equivalent qualification.Etiquette and conduct:i. Business like and professional appearanceii. Punctual timekeepingiii. Duty to be transparent in terms of conduct to report any matters where an issue may arise on a file.iv. Diary and calendar management in relation to any deadlines, given that there will be numerous deadlines to manage.v. Introduction of business to the firm as a combination of generating more work from existing clients and bringing work into the businessvi. Compliance with firm wide policies and proceduresvii. Conduct relevant to that of a case handler and professionalviii. Proactively progressing and turning leads/enquiries into workThe firm places great emphasis upon a team working culture. Given the changing nature of the service sector, which is excellent client service, communication and value for service, a paralegal will work with at least with one if not, two or more other colleagues in progressing a client’s transaction.Flexibility and the ability to adapt to a fast paced environment are absolute essentials for this role and for progression. Being a team player is a critical and fundamental requirement. As part of that, the firm will engage in various socials, which assist with gelling a culture with a firm wide teamwork approach.The firm also has a significant track record of their solicitors and senior leaders having been paralegals in the firm initially.
