Job Description

De Montfort University (DMU) is an ambitious, globally-minded institution with a relentless focus on delivering quality teaching and learning, and a campus-wide focus on providing a sector-leading student experience.Faculty / DirectorateThe Faculty of Computing, Engineering and Media (CEM) is home to a diverse range of courses across three specialist schools, taught by experienced academics using professional facilities equipped with cutting-edge technology.DMU School of Engineering and Sustainable Development is inviting applications for a Research Assistant (RA), 30% part-time, 18 months fixed term, to work with the DMU team on the EU H2020 SAFEMODE Research Project RoleYou will be expected to participate in piloted simulations in critical flight conditions such as in wake vortex encounters leading to a Loss-Off-Control In-flight (LOC-I) making a special emphasis on Human Factors (HF) from the perspective of HUman Risk-Informed Design (HURID) principles.Ideal CandidateThe school is looking for candidates with experience in flight simulation and possession of piloting skills, as well as with knowledge of human factors in aviation, which can be applied to research Loss of Control In-flight (LOC-I). In addition, a Master of Science Degree in aeronautical engineering or physical sciences is required. Programming skills and pilot experience are an advantage.
