Job Description

As Logistics Programme Director, you will report into the Global Project & Programmes Director and lead a team to deliver a large scale transformation programme as well as embed a culture of continuous improvement, elevate best practices and drive standardisation.The ideal candidate will have experience of working within Contract Logistics and ideally some exposure to working with customers within Technology or Manufacturing.Global 3PL Provider with a flagship operation based in Leicester. They are looking for a Logistics Programme Director to deliver significant change and transformation.

  • The Logistics Programme Director will create and implement a clear programme vision and strategy that aligns with the organisations objectives.
  • Set specific goals, objectives, and key performance indicators for the programme.
  • Lead of team of Programme Managers and Project Managers with a focus on driving collaboration and a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Utilise data analysis to identify bottlenecks, inefficiencies, and areas for improvement in our operations.
  • Implement Lean Six Sigma methodologies to streamline processes, reduce waste, and optimise resource allocation.
  • Lead and support projects aimed at improving productivity, reducing costs, and increasing customer satisfaction.
  • Act as a change agent, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and innovation within the organisation.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to develop and implement standard operating procedures that ensure consistency and efficiency across the logistics network.
  • Monitor key performance indicators to track the effectiveness of process improvements and make data-driven decisions for further enhancements.
  • Continuously stay updated on industry trends and best practices to identify new opportunities for optimisation.
  • Communicate progress, challenges, and recommendations to senior management to drive strategic decision-making.
  • Previous experience within Project or Programme management preferably at Senior or Head of level.
  • Significant experience in third party logistics at a senior level.
  • Experience of managing teams within a fast paced, high change environment.
  • Minimum of 5 years leading improvement methodologies such as Lean and Six Sigma in an operational environment.
  • Experience in conceptualising and implementing operational or supply-chain management improvements.
  • Data analytics proficiency, advanced Excel skills, SQL and database queries.
  • Demonstrable track record of major implementations and transformation projects.
  • Demonstrated expertise in optimising warehouse operations and streamlining operational processes.
  • Proficient in measuring and managing performance using SLAs and KPIs.
  • Thorough understanding of financial aspects and contractual agreements in the logistics sector.
  • Significant experience of working with a wide range of warehouse management systems.
  • Within commutable distance to Leicester.
