Job Description

Due to new ownership, were now looking to recruit a Product Technologist to come and work within our Category team.As a Product Technologist, youll be responsible for ensuring products are only sourced from compliant suppliers including, safety, human rights, environment, and quality and that all products meet required regulations and standardsInterested by the sound of this Read on to find out more!The Role:It is an exciting time here at City Plumbing. We have recently become a stand-alone business and are making real strides in creating an inclusive workplace that celebrates and values diversity.Due to our new ownership, we have committed to undergoing an acceleration project across our Multichannel teams and are now looking to recruit a further Product Technologist to support our wider Category department.As a Product Technologist, your activities will be risk-based and in compliance with UK legislation. Youll also support the continued registration to the ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 Management Systems.It is essential that you are able to travel both nationally and internationally as required for assessing and approving manufacturing sites and products.Your areas of focus will include:

  • Supporting the continued maintenance of ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 Registered Management System as required.
  • Monitoring suppliers within designated product categories on improvement plans relating to the Supplier Commitments and associated Online Risk Assessments (ORA) including supplier visits as necessary.
  • Supporting the manufacturing site assessment programme within the designated category by determining the level of 3rd party, self assessments or conducting own site assessment
  • Responsible for communicating all non-compliance issues to Stakeholders and following through on a corrective action plan in a timely manner.
  • Evaluation and approving products on a risk basis within designated categories, including risk assessment and benchmarking processes, to ensure that only compliant products (Safe, Legal, Reliable and Fit-for-Purpose) enter the business.
This is a hybrid-based role with minimal travel into our head office once a week based in Crick, Northamptonshire.This means you could be from areas such as Birmingham, Corby, Coventry, Hinckley, Leamington Spa, Leicester, Leicestershire, Loughborough, Lutterworth, Market Harborough, Northampton, Northamptonshire, Nuneaton, Peterborough, Rugby, Rushden, Warwickshire,Wellingborough, as well as Crick Itself.You:Youll live and breathe our Customer First ethos, with a commercial and strategic vision when it comes to Category/Product Technical Management. Youll enjoy working collaboratively with the wider team and youll be committed to acting with integrity andhonesty in everything you do.Required skills and competencies:
  • Previous experience within a Product Technologist / Category Technical / Technical Procurement role.
  • Trained auditor (both ISO 9001/ISO 14001) and experience in carrying out supplier assessments.
  • Solid understanding of UK product regulations and standards.
  • Excellent communication and influencing skills (written and verbal) at all levels.
  • A desire to grow and be part of a team.
