Job Description

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Payroll Co-Ordinator to join our well-established Accountancy Firm based in Leicester, on a part time basis.Supervising the efficient day-to-day running of our Payroll Department, you will be responsible for ensuring the timely and accurate processing of payroll schemes for a portfolio of clients as well as supporting colleagues and managing the departments workload.As our Payroll Co-Ordinator, you will have a strong background in payroll processing (preferably within an accountancy practice) and have excellent interpersonal and communication skills enabling you to take charge of all aspects of the department and communicate with clients in a friendly and professional manner.Key Skills, Competencies and ExperienceEssential

  • 3 years’ experience within a similar role with a proven payroll background
  • Experience in a supervisory capacity with strong leadership skills and the ability to manage department and colleague workload to meet tight deadlines
  • To be able to uphold the strict confidentiality of client information and understand GDPR commitments and legislation
  • A keen eye for process improvement and efficiency enhancement
  • The ability to work accurately and efficiently
  • In depth experience of Sage Line 50 Payroll software
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • The capacity to work with initiative and to be a team player
  • Desirable
  • CPP qualified or similar qualification
  • Working knowledge of Sage Payroll Bureau
  • Experience of working within an accountancy practice
  • Experience of completing and processing P11d’s in order to assist our Senior Accountants when required
  • A knowledge of the Furlough claims system and experience in processing
  • Job Description
  • To supervise the payroll department ensuring that deadlines are met and to review and manage all department processes, ensuring efficiency.
  • To be the first point of contact for and deal with complex payroll queries, from both clients and internal colleagues
  • To accurately calculate a portfolio of clients Payroll including National Insurance, Tax, SSP / SMP / holidays and childcare voucher payments using Sage Line 50 Payroll software
  • To submit timely client RTI data to HMRC relating to clients’ employee pay
  • Providing pay run payment details, dates and all reports to clients to ensure timely payments can be made
  • As appropriate, manage the auto-enrolment pension payments and liaise with the pension provider if required
  • To raise any queries regarding payroll with the relevant professional telephone support service
