Mental Health Practitioner (Band 6)–£35,392-£42,618– Groby Road, LeicesterThe RoleAre you a dynamic and committed Mental Health Nurse, Social Worker or Occupational Therapist looking for the next chapter in your career Do you possess a compassionate and calm nature If so, we have a new opportunity for you.Leicestershire Partnership NHS Trust are currently recruiting for dynamic, registered Mental Health Nurses, Social Workers or Occupational Therapists for our Mental Health Central Access Point (MHCAP)MHCAP is a telephoned based service that is the front door to LPT M H services. It is run in collaboration with a VCSO - Turning Point.MHCAP is a 24-hour, 7-day service and we are particularly looking for candidates who would be interested in working twilight and night shifts.This role will involve dealing with and supporting highly distressed individuals, so an empathetic nature is a must.Key Responsibilities:

  • Dealing with and supporting highly distressed individuals.
  • Triage individuals via the phone and sign post them to appropriate services for follow up.
  • Following triage these may move through the urgent access pathway and your role will be to make sure that this is a seamless pathway for the individual.
  • Support healthcare support workers and other clinicians in decision making.
  • Co-ordinate a shift which also involves screening referrals according to urgency and allocating work to your colleagues.
  • Contribute to the supervision, education, and assessment of the performance of students in accordance with University and Trust standards.
  • Take responsibility for the clinical supervision of junior staff.
  • Participate in audit and research projects to further own and teams’ clinical practice.

  • Registered Nurse / Midwife (for Health Visitors only) Level 1 Degree or Equivalent
  • Post Registration Qualification for District Nurses / Health Visitors /School Nurses posts only.
  • Specialist Community Public Health.
  • Nursing Post Registration Qualification.
  • Evidence of continuing professional development within the last 12 months.
  • Hold an NMC approved mentoring qualification.
  • Leadership or Management Qualification or willingness to work towards.
  • Experience of working with patients with mental health problems.
  • Demonstrates skills in using electronic records.
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to provide good quality care.
