Job Description

We currently have opportunities for general operatives to work in our clients Desford facility on an ongoing temporary basis. With structuredevaluations and salary reviews our roles also offer opportunities for personal development and recognition in your role.Primary purpose of the role:Working within a team to cut hydraulic hoses to required specifications along with attaching fittings to ensure compliance with product requirementsHours of work Monday - Thursday 6 am - 2.30 pmFriday 6 am - 11 am£11.71 Per hour plus bonuses.As an Assembly Operative you will operate as part of a flexible, multi-disciplinary productionteam responsible for the assembly of parts or components to produce hoses, according tospecified work orders. You will utilise lean manufacturing tools and techniques whilstoperating to defined "cycle times" and production sequences. Working in an environmentwhere training and development is encouraged, and the promotion of continuousimprovement is the standard.Role duties and responsibilities:

  • Follow documented standard work procedures/instructions to perform safe and defect free assembly of parts and components, using various hand, power tools and lifting equipment provided in the work area.
  • Cutting hydraulic hose length to requirements and fitting couplings and various other tasks.
  • Follow and utilise Caterpillar Production System principles of continuous improvement reporting, waste elimination and standard work.
  • Operate BCP built products where required.
  • Keep the work area clean, tidy, and safe in line with 5S and total preventative maintenance (TPM)
  • It is an important part of the role to understand and maintain accuracy, and update any operation metrics as applicable.
  • Adhere to the Organisations health & safety policy and safe working practices.
  • Adhere to Caterpillars Values in Action: Integrity, Commitment, Excellence, Teamwork.
  • Undertake training and further learning as required.
Requirements for the role:
  • Demonstrate high level of assembly or mechanical aptitude and accuracy with a good working knowledge of assembly practices.
  • The ability to read, comprehend and follow verbal and written instructions and procedures accurately

  • The ability to work closely with others is imperative, requiring team participation to achieve the agreed objectives
  • You will possess effective communication skills to liaise with various levels of the organisation
  • Have a fully flexible approach to the job role & responsibilities (willing to work overtime when necessary)
  • The ability to use hand/power tools and lifting equipment.
  • Willing to undertake training and required learning as require.
  • Must be willing to work a multi-shift pattern
