Job Description

We are currently working for leading Local Authority in Leicestershire in sourcing 3 interim Homelessness Prevention Officers. Hybrid working with the office based in Leicester.You will prevent and relieve homelessness in the city by assisting customers to either retain their present accommodation or by the provision of an alternative housing resolution and ensuring access to suitable housing for those in need in line with theHomelessness Strategy and relevant statutory legislation.Duties will include:

  • Managing a large, varied and complex caseload, including handling the service’s more complex cases for example handling illegal eviction cases in the private sector
  • Undertakes assessment and investigation of homelessness approaches and applications in line with the council’s statutory duties under relevant statutory legislation, guidelines and case law.
  • Develops, updates and reviews personalised housing plans with customers, identifying actions that lead to customers retaining their current accommodation or securing new suitable accommodation.
  • Maintains accurate written and computer records, reports and other monitoring information.
  • To fully inform customers of the housing options available to them and assist customers with a range of housing matters.
To be considered for this role, you will have:
  • Experience of working with homeless clients
  • Experience of managing a caseload
  • IT literacy and able to use computer software effectively, and train others on key software.
  • Strong awareness of current issues in the field of housing / homelessness
  • Experience of carrying out interviews, investigations, negotiations
  • Excellent communication skills including the ability to write detailed technical letters and reports.
This is a full-timerole 37 hours per week Monday- Friday. Pay rate is £16.40- £17.84 PAYE depending on experience.Please apply today for a chance of an immediate interview!What Reed can offer you as a temporary employee:
