Job Description

Job Title: Garment TechnologistSalary: NegotiableLocation: LeicesterBenefits: Pension, Health, Share SchemeThis is a unique position for a Garment Technologist who is looking for an opportunity to use your current skills and add to them by incorporating the latest technology into your clothing.Founded in 2014 and revenue generating this innovate start-up has a solid financial base and a highly effective management structure in place. They are supported by their Canadian parent company who are looking to invest heavily to support through continued growth.The RoleThe role involves creating prototype samples principally involving the integration of smart electronics into garments. Working with the inhouse electronic and software teams you will produce garments with integrated smart electronics.

  • Develop manufacturing methods for bulk production of electronic integration
  • Attending internal development meetings and external customer meetings both in the UK and abroad
  • Organising and overseeing all wash and wear testing of products
  • Organising the manufacture of garments for customer trials
  • Developing test methods for new products
  • Communicating directly with external fabric and component suppliers
  • Administration duties will include documenting data for all test results and generating sewing specifications suitable for UK and international garment manufacturers. Therefore, a good understanding of industrial garment production methods would be beneficial
    • Key Experience RequiredWe are looking for a garment technologist with experience of the following.
  • Practical experience of making garments and prototype textile samples
  • Be competent using an industrial locksmith machine and have the ability to adjust the machine to suit the job in hand
  • Some pattern cutting experience would be useful along with an understanding of fit and sizing, particularly of outerwear products
    • A basic understanding of electronics would be advantageous but not essential for this very interesting specialist role however you must have an interest in it.
