Job Description

Field-based Network EngineerIn this field-based role, you would work as part of our wider technical services team providing technical support skills to customers both on-site and remotely.At Comms-care we pride ourselves on delivering outstanding service to our customers. This role will give you an opportunity to develop existing skills working on a variety of projects and break-fix calls. You will receive initial training and on-going development.Salary: £18,000 - £24,000 Dependent on experience. Plus package including Car, Phone, Laptop, Benefits package, certified training, overtime, TOILLocation: Field Based - Leicester and surrounding areaOn a day to day basis, you focused on installing and supporting network devices, PCs and Servers for our customers. Additional tasks include remote and on-site troubleshooting, facilitating customer adds, moves & changes, customer rollouts and other project-based installs. There will also be an On-Call requirement of no more than 1 week in 5. The Company:Comms-care is a leading channel-only provider of IT support and service solutions. Holding Gold Partnership status with both Cisco & Microsoft, Comms-care manage all aspects of the IT life-cycle from Consultancy, Design and Implementation to Managed Services and Reactive Field support across a number of technologies including: security, servers, desktops, voice & unified communications, data-centre and wireless.Comms-care is part of the Ingram Micro Group, Ingram Micro is a Fortune 100 company and globally the largest technology distributor of IT products and services.Responsibilities:

  • Pre-staging of router and switch installations according to documentation
  • Installation and support of varied desktop and server estate
  • Installation of network equipment at varied customer locations UK wide
  • Project based site survey and documentation
  • Post-Sales support
  • Assist with customer add, move and change requirements
  • On-site support of customer faults
  • Site visits to assess and swap non-functional equipment
  • Knowledge of the following would be advantageous:
  • Cisco, Draytek, Zyxel, Netgear routers
  • Cisco, 3Com and HP switches
  • 1st/ 2nd line PC hardware and Microsoft desktop and server support
  • To be successful in this role previous office or field-based networking experience is advantageous. Knowledge of networking is essential and ideally you will have CCNA or be working towards this certification or equivalent level of experience/ knowledge.Alternatively Microsoft MCP/MCSA or CompTIA A+, Network + would be ad advantage to any application.Fundamental to this role:
  • Extremely well organised with good communication skills and excellent spoken/ written English.
  • Experience providing network/PC field engineering services to high profile customers
  • A flexible approach to work and prepared go the extra mile to exceed customer expectations
